Tenoch Huerta is Namor

I appreciate what Tenoch attempted to do with his reinterpretation of Namor. Unfortunately the MCU version of Namor is vastly different from the comics.

This version of the character comes across way too sympathetic in his objective than that of the arrogant self-centered prick he's known to be in the comics.

He wasn't a villain in this particular sense nor a Anti-hero. He was just a King looking out for the well-being of his people from the world at large.

If Namor is too get a stand-alone film, I'm very interested to see where they take the character and his society.

I find a lot of the recent interpretations of classic Marvel characters in the MCU decidedly lacking. Namor is one. Moon Knight is another.

Honestly can you see this version of Namor having the same connection with Sue Storm he does in the comics? Because I can't .

I’d like to see both too, again not romantically.
I wanted Namor for Fantastic Four Three, but that was even before I found out he was tied to Universal Pictures.

I'd like to see the Sub-Mariner meet the Silver Surfer.

I want the F4 to meet Surfer, Namor and She Hulk down the line. Fine for them to meet each other too.

Black Panther too.

Funny how they all started as Fantastic Four characters, and eventually became their own ip (Black Panther, Inhumans and Sub-Mariner not being included to FoX's FF film rights).

Yes BP too. Yeah, F4 was a good breeding ground for great characters. :cwink:

I don't think Namor started in Fantastic Four.

But they are called the first family for a reason. Fantastic Four was a major turning point for Marvel Comics and they were basically the start of the Marvel age of the 60s.

Kinda hard to say when we haven't even see the MCU's version of Sue yet. I can only answer this after getting a feel for her character. Not sure how anyone can answer at this point??

Personally, I got
"So, are you single?" vibes in most of his interactions with Shuri during her captivity. Like, not "I have you now my pretty" mustache twirling villainy, but rather. . .he was giving her the kind of "monarchical alliance" pitch that would historically be solidified with a marriage.

Also, I find the idea that this version of Namor was too *nice* kind of baffling. If anything, he leaned much more hardcore into the villain side of his portrayal than is typical for the character.

I too thought Namor had a bit more 'warmth' here than he did in the comics but IMO he needed to to make up for the villainous stuff he did in the movie.

He was just a king protecting his people by any means necessary as they have been cut off by the rest of the world for centuries. In a way Talokan mirrored Wakanda in the first movie. Either way I thought Tenoch was great in the role and I loo forward to seeing where Namor turns up next.

Namor was by far the best part. His intensity, his comics accurate costume. Absolutely incredible and talocan is a huge improvement over what we’ve seen of Atlantis in the comics.

I really respect his ideology too, that hot people should be allowed to do a little murder, as a treat.

No. But, Fantastic Four is, where he came BACK!

Yeah I don’t get the criticisms that Namor was too “nice” or whatever. I’ll admit, my knowledge of the comics version is limited, but Namor and his crew
straight-up murdered like 100 innocent people at the beginning and who knows how many others when they attacked Wakanda. And he of course killed Queen Ramonda in cold blood. I feel they just gave him a lot of depth to make some of his actions more understandable, similar to what Marvel did with Thanos (turning him in to a guy who experienced so much loss and pain that he became obsessed with “balancing” the universe rather than just some evil crazy guy who wants to shack up with Death lol). Of course, Namor isn’t as villainous as Thanos ultimately but that’s also because they clearly want him to ally with the heroes in the future, much like in the comics.

Anyway, Tenoch was awesome in the role. My only real criticism with Talocan is that Namor is really the only character that we get to know there. The rest of his people are pretty much just background characters. I would have liked to have seen some others questioning his leadership.

I would've liked Namor to look more haughty and arrogant and speak like someone full of himself. Also would've preferred his name was actually Namor. And I would've liked someone to refer to him as Submariner.

I would've liked if they compared Talokan to Atlantis in the film, either saying it's like it or that it is the actual factual basis for the legendary underwater city.

I agree with various points here
Attuma and Namorita should've had much bigger roles

And Talokan, as with every fictional MCU country thus far, needs to be bigger and more fleshed out
Between that, Sokovia, and Wakanda, apparently Marvel thinks one city constitutes a whole country. Wakanda has a tiny bit more to it, with the J'bari mountain area, but not much more.

Is Talokan a country or a city though? Atlantis was always a city or a kingdom. Maybe Talokan is a city too. And some countries could be small. Vatican and Monaco come to mind and are classed as countries but little more than a city.

Well I believe it said "Talokan: Capital City" in the film
And yea there are some small city-states, but that's not how they've described Wakanda... maybe Sokovia.
Whenever Latveria appears, I hope it's shown to be a fully formed country
