Rise of the Beasts Transformers: Rise of the Beasts General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

I mean I have no problem with absurdity in Transformer movies but when it devolves into toilet humor I start to ask why is this necessary. Putting it into a Transformers doesn't magically make it more entertaining to me.

The humor with the cop getting faked out and Arcee waving is cute. Keep that stuff and cut out Bay's toilet humor. This isn't Beavis and Butthead.

I think my problem with it though is all the humor in the trailer seems Bay like but much more safe and bland. If you want to not do Bay I get that. But actually do it. Why does it appear they're trying to go back to it? All it does in this context make the Bay humor, however you feel about it, unintentionally better because it's more inspired than a copy.

This looks like a soft reboot of the Transformers series, keeping with the more accurate designs from Bumblebee. Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback in their bits alone are a MAJOR casting upgrade from the Bayformers cast. They don't make me cringe like LaBeouf, Fox, Duhamel, Turturro, et al.

I'm actually looking forward to it. I wish it was a full Bumblebee sequel (Hailee Steinfeld deserves it), but this looks like a fun and well-staged action film. I was surprised at how good the VFX looked since ILM isn't doing it, a bit ropey in sections but still impressive.

Im not sure why we couldnt get a reboot or just have this be a spin off set in the future that ends up in the past like the series....

People on the TFW 2005 message boards are already complaining about the CGI and the designs. Someone even said that Arcee’s design looks bad. Like, what? You’re telling me that looks worse than whatever those walking, talking garbage heaps were in Bayformers? GTFO. :funny:

Of course, that board still simps for the Michael Bay films and his “superior” robot designs and “filmmaking/directing” (not to mention ardent defenders of “Murder Prime” as a great character), so their continued terrible taste is no surprise.

That good ol' place. I visit there like...once a year lol when my nostalgia for Beast Wars flares up

Good trailer. Hadn’t kept up at all with what’s happening with Transformers and thought I was done with the series but the beasts have got me interested again. :D

I didn’t know much about Beast Wars as a kid but it looks awesome. Optimus Primal is a cool idea. I needed that toy growing up. :csad:

Except with Optimus arrives on Earth at the end of that movie which is another of numerous retcons among the Bayverse that don't line up (similar example is the Fox X-Men franchise).

I just take Bumblebee onward as its own continuity with little nods here and there to the Bay movies, without you needing to watch them.

Optimus never says in the first movie though that he has never been to Earth does he? He calls earth a new world at the start but doesn't say when they arrived.

I am just a sucker for continuity.

The first movie made it perfectly clear that, at that point in time and taking into account Megatron crashing into the ice years beforehand, it was the Transformers' first arrival on Earth. The rest of the series made retcons upon retcons afterwards that made little-r and little-r sense as it progressed (especially The Last Knight), so no, none of it was planned or that well thought-out if you look at the big picture. And taking into account what ViewerAnon has claimed regarding
Rise Of The Beasts teasing the arrival of Unicron in a more traditional form for a future sequel,
it contradicts the events of TLK.

Claiming that Bumblebee is a soft reboot of the Bayverse and Rise Of The Beasts to follow suit, is in no way a far-fetched assumption.

Just read a synopsis of how

Unicron was teased in TLK. That made me facepalm.

Just hope the film does well, if he is teased for a future instalment.

I will be fair to say that Transformers Prime explored the same concept before TLk came out, but it was done better there so I guess Bay figured he could have his hand at it.

That being said,
planet-shaped/gargantuan-sized Unicron trumps Earth Unicron period.

Oh, yeah! I forgot about that as I haven’t watched that show in quite awhile.

Oh yeah how they handled Unicron in the 5th movie was terrible.

If these new movies are re-boots though I wish they would just go with that instead of the soft reboot stuff as the latter crippled the X-Men franchise.

Also thought it was a bit weird how Prime’s arm turned into a gun when confronting Primal.

I’m also hoping that Scourge is a pretty bad ash villain in the film with the descriptions of him having various insignias on his chest, the design and him voiced by Dinklage.

Say what you will about AOE, but Lockdown was pretty awesome in that film! Hope Scourge is at that level.
