The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread

I don't think a ton of people are on Zaslav's "side". People are more so rooting for Gunn'Safran, not their boss. Anything DC does now will be seen as more of their work as opposed to Zaslav's imo. Gunn even more so.

The only fans I ever really see referring to executives and CEOs as the culprits or the champions are the same ones who look to every new WB boss as the savior who'll bring Snyder back.

And when they don't bring him back, they start talking about box office returns, how doomed WB and DC are, how much money they're not making, and how stupid they are for not doing what they want.

Just a thought here, but what if they brought routh back for a crisis film along side cavill, and maybe Tyler Hoechlin?

I know I know it was done on that cw show, but I'm talking a big budget film here.
I think routh would be great with a better suit and a good script.
It's possible you could also bring in a new superman without having to do an origin.

I mean they did say they wanted all films, animated films, and TV shows to be connected.

And it worked for spiderman.

Eh I'm tired of all the multiverse stuff, already happening with The Flash.

I personally don't think Routh is big screen material and I find his voice far too nasaly for Superman.

Its a bummer to me that people don't want an origin for Supes. So much to do with a young Clark that we haven't seen before on the by screen.

Side-note: Gunn said that the DCU will be that way. But some things will be standalone/separate.

Don't worry there's a whole generation who thinks Smallville is an accurate representation of it. :o

We are probably setting ourselves for disappointment by expecting too much from WB yet again.
I sure wish we could get "our" infinity war and end game.

But, as usual, WB will probably either try to re-imagine or over complicate something that should be easy peasy.

Lol making these films is certainly not "easy-peasy", especially a two-parter costing $600M+

These are so damn good. Is there more background info/a thread that I'm missing?
I asked someone on reddit that has access to midjourney v4 (Ai image generator if you don't know) to create images of a Superman film from the mid 90s and by Spielberg. They also decided to make some posters as well.

I love the look of them, it has that epic feel while at the same time staying true to the source material.

That I would disagree with you.
There are fans out there who liked some of the moves Zaslav made before he hired Gunn and Safran, which is what I was referring to.

That's why I didn't mention Gunn and Safran.

I talked to some of those of fans on these boards who supported Zaslav in the aftermath of the Batgirl cancellation .

They didn't allude to Snyder at all , but they did seem to glad that the old leadership was going.

I've seen fans who didn't like what Snyder did who think Zaslav is the right man at the helm of WB and I've seen fans who liked Snyder who liked Zaslav.

So I wouldn't reduce the support or belief in Zaslav to just Snyder fans who believe he'll bring back the Snyder-verse.

Nevertheless, I don't have the faith in Zaslav's leadership that some fans have.

As far as Gunn and Safran, I'll wait and see the final results.

I can only judge Gunn as a filmmaker at this point as opposed to the position he has now.

Beyond that, I don't know what he and Safran have in mind with DC Studios , so, it depends on what they develop and how it turns out.

Who? Some of us understood them but that /= supporting them.

I wasn't on here around then so I guess I wouldn't know about this site, but most of what I saw on Twitter or Reddit didn't like Zaslav's Batgirl move at all, but they understood it, more or less.

And a solid chunk of people I saw who championed the decision were then rooting for Zaslav to more or less axe anything that wasn't in someway connected to Snyder's work. Since Batgirl was Keaton's next film after Flash, people were jumping to conclusions that it meant Keaton was out for good, Affleck was coming back and all types of other reaching, blah blah blah.

But no, it's not "only" Snyder fans, I suppose. But as of now, I definitely see more focus on Gunn as opposed to Zaslav when it comes to who to blame or praise when projects eventually release. I like the Gunn/Safran hiring from Zaslav on paper, but I can't say I'm a fan outside of that.

They're SO good. I only heard about Midjourney a week or so ago, have been dabbling on Dalle2, but nothing like those.

It is when you set the heroes up first in solo films and give the fans and public what they want.
infinity war and end game were not risks. Marvel knew ahead of time ( going by the previous films B.O. ) that they would both make over a billion easily.
It was money in the bank as long as they continued using the successful formula they had been using, and they did.

Now, not so much. Marvel has gotten away from it somewhat. And it shows

I'm not saying it's not hard work making these films, I know it is, but if you give the majority of the fans and public what they want , ie, infinity war and end game, your return on investment will be 3 or 4 fold.

Could WB actually be making a good Superman movie decision by rebooting, is hell freezing over?

Please be true.

Someone make sure David Corenswet has an open calendar!!!!!

I kinda figured WW3 was DOA. After Patty whiffed on WW84 all momentum was gone and honestly Gal hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire of late. It sucks cause the first one was great but I don't think anyone is clamoring for a third one at this point.

Given the recent development, I guess Superman will
still get erased and replaced by Supergirl in "The Flash".

If Gunn cancels "Superman and Lois" as well because of his so-called plans for the DCU, then count me out completely since I have no desire supporting any of his decisions.
