Stargirl The Stargirl News and Discussion Thread

Stargirl's average this season is between 400-500K.

So an HBO Max option might not happen but you never know. It’s been a great ride nonetheless imo.

Of course something seemed off when the Crocks were all hunky dory, peachy keen, and trying to mend fences with the Mahkents. Felt like they were being a bit too optimistic about making things right, so them being taken out isn't surprising, but still a big loss nonetheless. Also, nice to see Icicle back because him being taken out by being hit by a car felt too easy.

At the same time, I still hope Cameron stays on the straight path, but the kid's so conflicted. I understand Courtney covering for Mike. She'd rather Cameron hate her than tell him the truth and put her brother at risk, which she'd never do.

Also, someone needs to take that hourglass away from Rick.

Wow I’m shocked by that ending but you knew something was going to go down and I’m pretty bummed by it but excited at the return of Icicle. These last few episodes are definitely going to be interesting.

I trust all those details on the Ultra Humanite’s backstory prove relevant to his eventual defeat. Because the exposition was rather cringey. o_O

The backstory -- and Mike and Jakeem's exchange of knowing looks -- explains "the killer has many names". It's a clunky explanation, and so I wonder if it's misdirection, but the show has pretty much run out of time to introduce new plot elaborations.

Damn that ending with The Crocs actually choked me up a bit because I love those characters so much and I'm sad to see them gone this early, but it was definitely effective. Jordan is still as ruthless as ever and I love that and hopefully his return isn't wasted because he is easily one of the best villains on this show.

In the past, I’ve been a tad critical of a rigid superhero TV “formula” which specifies X number of action sequences per episode and/or X number of times the title character appears in their superhero guise/costume. I prefer it when story dictates the action — which might mean an occasional episode where the “hero” only appears once. Or perhaps not at all. However, Stargirl has taken this notion to an extreme. :ebr:

When was the last time (not counting flashbacks) that Courtney actually appeared as Stargirl?

Perhaps if Courtney actively displayed other talents (like Veronica Mars-level detective skills), we’d be more engaged in her narrative and wouldn’t miss the costume as much. But in this season (especially), she’s been largely passive. And kind of a bore. I presume Stargirl will finally show up for a big action sequence in the finale. But methinks that’s too little, too late.

THE CW | The antepenultimate Stargirl (487K/0.1) added 7,000 viewers, while Kung Fu (360K/0.1) dropped a few eyeballs.

Im catching up and i am over Rick/Yolanda barging in head first ruining everything.

Okay, didn't call that one. Ultra-Humanite essentially being in Sylvester this entire time would explain why things have felt off about him. At first, I called Sylvester pushing everyone away because he essentially signed his own death warrant in a one-way mission. But for the reveal that Ultra-Humanite was in Sylvester all along was a reveal I didn't call at all.

This episode was packed with twist and turns and full of revelations. Not ready to say goodbye to this series but at least it looks like it’s going out on a high note.

I'm catching up too and the Crocks was seriously disappointing to lose. It's like the reformed villians still can't catch a break by doing right. It was building them up to do nothing.

I haven't caught up on the latest episodes but I already know who the real behind the scenes villian is and it is bananas. Certainly a different way to end a series.

The Crocks might not be dead. I'd like to think that Icicle did enhanced-ice-power-stuff to fake their deaths, to protect them from the ISA's old enemy the Ultra-Humanite, and reconstituted them elsewhere. Icicle has had practice with that, after all.

That would be a lame copout in my opinion. You want some actual pathos and stakes for the heroes or even reformed villains, especially going into a finale. Plus, team mini JSA hasn't faced any huge losses, so they're overdue for one. Not to mention the Crocks being dead for real provides even more, albeit enraged, motivation for Artemis.

It does but it was the wrong call to kill them like that, especially so close to the finale and just as they were becoming actual better people instead of hokey villians. Their deaths were also lazy and forced IMO exactly to do what you said: drive the heroes to do... what they were going to do already?

There’s something strange going on with Jordan, making him work with his old enemy the Ultra-Humanite. Maybe villains threatened the Mahkents, or captured some of Jordan’s bits before he reassembled.

I like the idea of a villain secretly doing good; it provides balance against
"Sylvester".

I said motivation for Artemis, not the heroes. Until the Crocks were killed, I doubt Artemis had any dog in this battle with the Mahkents, but now she's got personal stakes and a reason to get involved. Whether the Crocks were killed or not, mini JSA was going to take the fight to the Mahkents anyway.

CONGO BILL on the cover of "My Greatest Adventure" Magazine. COOL!

Neat Twist with Ultra-Humanite. Never saw that coming.

That “Chapter 5: White Shadows in the Jungle” poster… I’m guessing that Bill’s team is investigating the murder, but the way the scene is set up like a big game hunter’s “trophy” photo is very disturbing.
