Also, High Evolutionary looks like some random dude.

Gunn should've went with a DENZEL or GINCARLO, somebody who commands the screen. High Evolutionary demands an A-list actor, not some random guy that Gunn is friends with.

Way to judge the man's performance before we have seen anything outside him standing around and reaching into a cage

I like to let the movie's speak for themselves, personally

Also, this exists in the same universe

So much for "standard MCU aesthetic".

Warlock needed some CG enhancements at least. And High Evolutionary should've been mocap.
Is this supposed to be good? Because it looks pretty bad to me. But, honestly, it's not a close shot in order to judge and compare accordingly. I'm sure it will look better than Warlock in the film, but certainly nothing to write home about.

Maybe those guys are already taken for... other MCU projects. :cwink:

Not sure what you're gettin at there
So does that make it more or less likely to happen, in your opinion?

I think they'd do whatever they want. There might be backlash if they do but I think if it's the right casting, it'll blow over.

Guardians, Ant-Man, Indy - is that all of them? Just checking I didn't miss anything.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was the only other one yesterday.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see an Across the Spider-Verse trailer in the next couple of weeks. Frankly I'm a little surprised that we got a GOTG 3 trailer so soon since Marvel has been playing their trailers close to the chest and releasing them ~3 months before release these days.

Thanks, will get on that.

Were these all released without warning or were some expected?

There was some event in Brazil where I think these all debuted, at least the Marvel and Indiana Jones ones.

I thought I was done with Transformers but that was fun. I could be up for seeing some robo-beasts after all. Love getting a ton of trailers dumped on the same day.

So, after watching all those trailers that were released yesterday GOTG 3 is definitely best of the group IMO, but maybe I'm still feeling a bit bias coming off that awesome Christmas special.

Seriously, I'm probably more excited for that movie than I should be but I'm expecting James Gunn to end that franchise on a high note, and it also doesn't hurt that I loved both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker as well so for me at least he has been on a nice little roll lately as far as quality content goes.

I'm glad he's going to become a bigger part of the DC Universe going forward, but I'm also hoping we get another great MCU film again because I've been mostly disappointed with the quality of the more recent Phase 4 stuff outside of the shows and the specials which I have enjoyed for the most part.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and GOTG 3 are definitely looking really promising so far. I also love hearing the news of Michael Gandolfini being cast in Daredevil: Born Again.

He was great in The Deuce and The Many Saints of Newark.

I'm always a little cautious with that franchise after how bad most of those movies turned out but I'll definitely give this one a chance because I did like Beast Wars a lot when I was a kid. I liked Bumblebee and thought that was a step in the right direction after the Wahlberg TF movies but one strike against Rise of the Beasts is that Hailee Steinfeld isn't back.

Yeah. Bumblebee was great. That's a huge strike against it, but I guess she might have wanted to move on to other things now. I'm not going to get too excited and hope for a good film, but seeing the beasts in action might be enough to justify showing up anyway.

I enjoyed most of the films but it’s the shows I’ve had more of an issue with, despite enjoying all of them at least in some way.

They have had less bang for your buck for me so far, even though I love the idea of them. Films don’t take up a whole lot of time to watch in comparison so I’m a lot more tolerant there (specials even better on that front).

I'm sure he'll turn in a decent performance, but at the end of the day, he ain't Denzel. And that's what a character like High Evolutionary requires, someone who can walk rings around the other actors by screen presence alone, because that's who HF is.

Gunn makes these movies like he's making student films, and I absolutely hate it.

Maybe those guys are already taken for... other MCU projects. :cwink:
Well, I mean of course. Who better to lead the future of humanity than two of some of the most respected actors in this industry.

Honestly, that's how Feige could win.

It was a good game, but that Warlock looked f*ing terrible, I prefer what we saw in the trailer to that
Second Pic ain't bad though, but let's give it time for some digital touch-ups, hopefully he gets some glowy eyes
You prefer Warlock to look a dude in matte body paint, wearing an overdesigned suit of armor, over a regal, otherworldly being?

I despise Gunn's cheap, low-fi, almost "backyard"-esque aesthetic for these characters... Just imagine what someone like Denis Villeneuve could've done with this property

I am sorry, but I cannot take you seriously with this kind of take. So, movie sucks cause they didn't cast my fantasy pick for the role. You are just coming off like a whiny fanboy here, and at this point I don't respect any opinion you will have about this movie with trash hot takes like "they didn't cast Denzel so the movie sucks." Like seriously. One of the dumbest takes I have ever read on here. But please, you do you

The actors are more then fine. The issue is the look, which isn't unusual for the MCU.

Ironically, this post is basically:

I could sort of see your point if you were talking about big names like Doom or Magneto, but…High Evolutionary? :ebr: And I love Giancarlo as much as the next guy but he’s about as uninspired casting as you can get considering he keeps getting typecast as villains as of late so I’d much prefer he play a Hero in the MCU. Denzel would be fine but I think there are better roles to play than High Evolutionary.

Make him Charles!

Make him Charles!
And he wants it! This is a huge no-brainer at this point. I'd love seeing him in a different kind of role after he's played a very similar style (but great) villain role multiple times. Also having an actor of that calibre and gravitas for Charles is just what the MCU X-Men needs to help with a successful relaunch. Oh, that's assuming you meant Giancarlo rather than Denzel, although Denzel would be great too (as either Charles or Erik).
