Cable Cord Cutters Thread: Sling, Hulu, YouTube TV, Netflix, and more!

I really like Hulu Live.

I can watch football and MSNBC without cable.

Amid growing competition, Paramount+ and Showtime are combining in the U.S.

It has been announced that the premium tier of Paramount+ and Showtime will be merging and rebranding later this year.

The merged service will be called Paramount+ with Showtime. Reportedly, Tom Ryan will oversee the streaming business while Chris McCarthy will lead the Showtime studio and linear channel.

“While we are confident this is the right move for our company, our consumers, and our partners, we know this change brings uncertainty for the teams working on these brands and businesses,” Paramount CEO Bob Bakish wrote in a staff memo on Monday (via THR). “We are committed to being as transparent and thoughtful as possible throughout this process, and we expect to share additional details in the coming weeks.”

As the services merge, it has also been announced by Deadline that Showtime will not be proceeding with the Shailene Woodley-led series Three Women, the Demián Bichir-led Let The Right One In, or the Jon Bernthal-led American Gigolo. There is currently no word on the fate of I Love That For You and Ziwe, which have not yet been renewed.

I was just about to post this. With Showtime soon gonna be rebranded as Paramount+ and some of those exclusive series going to the linear network I’m betting that Halo will be one of those shows just to try and compete with The Last of Us and since Halo was supposed to be a Showtime original before moving to the streaming service. So it wouldn’t surprise me to see Season 2 of Halo on the Linear Paramount+ network as well as the streaming service.

I am also wondering since I have Showtime will I now be able to get Paramount+ through my cable provider because if so I’m just going to cancel my subscription.

I have that same question myself. I wouldn't mind having Paramount + content added to my Showtime, but I won't pay extra for it.

I have Showtime and Paramount+ and wonder if I'll get a price break. I'm thinking of going to YouTube and cancelling Directv because it's a lot cheaper even with the Showtime and HBO add ons. I get HBO Max free with my wireless through ATT so I don't even know what HBO really gets me. Isn't everything on HBO available on HBO Max only you might have to wait a day to watch a live show or something??

I have Max free because I was already paying for HBO through my cable provider so I don't really know if Max has a delay on new stuff or not. Max has more content than HBO alone because of having older TV shows from networks.

They air shows on the HBO linear channel simultaneously with Max. So when The Last of Us airs on the HBO channel at 9pm, it becomes available at the same time on HBO Max.

Good to know. :)

I'm sticking with Hulu, Disney, Max, and Prime at least.
