Rise of the Beasts Transformers: Rise of the Beasts General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Oh. So a car commercial in disguise. Great.

Yeah, it's literally just a truncated version of the first trailer with the same music track and little new footage sprinkled in. Why not show off unseen actions scenes from what's supposed to be a Transformers movie?

For as much flack as the Bay films got, the Superbowl TV spots for those films got this right and always grabbed your attention.

As much as people might hate the movie Revenge of the Fallen had one of the best Superbowl spots ever made IMO and I'll stand by that till the day I die even if the movie itself didn't live up to the hype.

For example, I still remember when the Dark Of The Moon TV spot first premiered way back when and being like:

"Oh crap, is Chicago under siege? Wait, are those spaceships? Damn that car collision looks cool. What is that bird robot thing? A giant Dune-esque worm robot, wut? Look at all those airplanes falling. That sequence of Optimus just mowing Decepticon grunts with his sword... bruh."

That in hindsight brought more hype than this, because it delivered on what most folks were expecting.

So what I am getting from this...Porsche likely paid for it? Only thing that makes sense.

basically, the odd thing is the design is more akin to G1 Jazz than Mirage. I'm kinda taken a back.

Dude, I just saw a picture somebody posted on another message board of promo box art for
Megatron.

The design looks absolutely sick!

Wasn’t sure whether or not posting it here would be breaking any board rules or anything, since I didn’t know if it counted as a leak or not, so I decided not to. The Transformers reddit definitely has it, if you’re really curious.

Had no idea
Megatron was even in this, but damn, they made the G1 design really work. His face is creepy as all hell. Guess this also confirms Frank Welker's involvement which makes me very happy.

It’s the perfect middle ground between the original G1 design and the Bayformers design. I think if I saw this design late at night in real life, I’d absolutely s**t my pants in terror. The skull-like features and glowing red eyes make him look so absolutely deranged and demonic.

T-Rex Megatron? :mrk:
God, I hope we see him transform into one.

I also love how he looks like a twisted samurai helmet.

Man, some people over on the TFW2005 forums absolutely wildin’.

While a lot of them are pretty positive about the new design, some of them are saying that the old Bayformers Megatron design was way better, and a few even say the new design is a lot like the old design, which is absolutely ridiculous. One glance at both designs, and it’s completely obvious that they look absolutely nothing alike.

A lot of people on that board totally coping and seething.

I mean, TFW2005 is home to very hyperbolic opinions in general (especially since the pre-Bayformers hype phase, just look up the reactions to that teaser trailer for the first Transformers movie), so I'm not really surprised.

If you looked at their reactions to some of the character designs and past plot leaks, you’d think the movie was going to be a disaster and that it was the end of the world or something.

Also, a lot of hate for G1 and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. I get the latter, as he’s been responsible for some questionable creative decisions and says contradictory things in regards to the canon of the films and how they fit into the timeline (Bumblebee is a reboot/is a prequel being one of them), but G1?

They complain about how often Hasbro seem to go back to the G1 well for those designs for all of the more recent incarnations as a “crutch”, but they do it because it works. You’d think with how much some of them complain, that Hasbro took their dog out to the back and shot it or something.

I mean, get a life, people. Geez. Do you have anything better to do other than complaining about something as trivial as the looks of fictional characters on a message board constantly?

It's not too dissimilar from a lot of users who used to frequent the now defuct IMDB boards back in the day.

Grapphic design was this person's passion I see. :o

People who are crying about sprinkles of G1 influence can go suck an egg.

G1 fans had to endure 5 Bayformers movies with stuff like an unrecognizable Megatron and a bunch of toilet humor. Also there would be no Transformers franchise without G1.
