Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Take this stuff somewhere else please. There's a separate forum for it on this site.
People are allowed to discuss the beliefs of those involved in making the media we consume - especially when said beliefs are reprehensible. Politics are part of everything and do not need to be specifically segregated to the politics boards.

Evangeline’s anti vax/mandate lunacy is fair game.

Did this movie get any substantial merchandise, outside of funko pops?

Art of book? Novelization?

Why is there no effort with this when it comes to Marvel movies?

I just saw a small featurette about the Ant-Man suits and there's what I think is a clip from Quantumania (haven't seen it yet) where the suits are now like appearing out of their chests?! Is this a whole new level of "we can't have superheroes putting on real suits anymore, let's just make them magically appear out of nowhere in post-production?".

nano-technology suits.

If the plan wasn’t already to end Ant Man films with this, the box office has all but sealed that. I wonder how much more Rudd we can expect. Hopefully he is up for more guest appearances at least for a fair while.

The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, I guess. Unless there's another team up before Secret Wars in which he could appear in.

Yeah, I expected those, especially with his links to Kang already. Meant post SW.

If rumors are true, that they will phase out all Infinity Saga characters after 2028. Then I hope he gets a send off like Black widow, Iron Man and Steve.

I guess he’ll have been around a good amount of time by that point. The end of saga points are decent times to retire characters off for plot purposes or if actors are looking to finish up.

I still think, that if an actor wants to quit portraying a character, say goodbye to him and recast. I did not stop watching Bond movies when Connery left. I did not stop watching Tarzan movies when Weismueller left, I did not stop watching Iron Man movies when Howard left.

Connery is a great example as he is and always has been easily my favourite Bond (even if his films are mostly not my favourites). Imagine if they’d stopped making Bonds after Connery stopped and missed out on all that eventual success over many decades. All the other Bonds brought different things to the role and many fans love talking about who their favourite Bond is.

It's crazy to think the first Avengers film cost $220mill. This cost $200mill.....it never should've cost $200mill for any Ant-man movie

Well with inflation the first Avengers would cost close to $300 million today (roughly $288 million to be exact) but the point still stands that $200 million wasn't necessary at all for an Ant-Man movie. It looks like it was made for a quarter of that price.

I kind of wonder whether that was the intended budget, or the Pandemic Disruption Inflated budget, though.

They certainly didn’t get enough of those dollars on the screen.

Poor Paul Rudd. Face of one of Marvels flop that is now embroiled in controversy with Majors and Bob Iger basically saying it shouldn’t have been made in the first place

Paul Rudd will be absolutely fine. He is incredibly likeable and will continue to pop up in future installments of the MCU. The underperformance of this movie will be like water off a ducks back for Rudd, Douglas and Pfeiffer. They are as established as it gets. The rest might get dinged a little, but this is far from an outright disaster anyway.

Yeah, the actors are gonna be fine. The Marvel Studios brand is the damaged goods.

Honestly I don't mind the idea of using Ant-Man for a big adventure in the Quantum Realm. But the movie needed to be good. I wouldn't say the first two Ant-Man movies were the stuff of legend, but they were enjoyable.

A smaller scale movie like the first two probably would have been best. Ant-Man movies have worked well as pallet cleansers. But this one just had the same taste as the last few MCU projects. Big or small, they needed better writing (spend some of that budget on better writers) and let the effects take as much time as they need to be done right.

I guess we can hope that actually a good amount of money on this one (which seems likely) will be a wake-up call. But who knows. And even if they learn something from this, it'll take time to adjust course. They can at least count on the Guardians to deliver, but beyond that?

On the positive side...at least Ant-Man has had good movies to his name.

With all the noise around Majors right now and this without the recent events being a huge bomb…I can see a shadow drop on Disney plus soon.
They won’t put much marketing into it. Maybe this will be released still in April

They could market it without showing the arrested actor.

Are we sure this will hit Disney+ the same day as VOD?
