I’m guessing (and this is purely a guess, not based on anything real), that they have toyed with the idea of introducing Doom a few different times but it didn’t work.

And now that FF is (in theory) just around the corner, they decided to wait a little longer and introduce him in FF.

As for topping Thanos and Kang, if they can’t top them with Doom, Galactus and Silver Surfer, that's on the writers, not the characters.

Yeah its been my ultimate pet peeve...all this rumored projects both cinematic and tv coming...no hint of ANYTHING Doom/Latveria related...then when we see these rumored projects listed, then we as fans start trying to insert where he or his country could fit and continue to be disappointed EVERY..SINGLE..TIME...If Kang gets to recreated Battleworld, no matter how its written, if Secret Wars is dumped into his lap, regardless of lack of proper development for Doom, is still a massive slap to the face of Doom fans and the character himself...there is truly nothing bigger than what they are doing with this massive multiverse storyline...I just don't see anything truly worthy of the grandeur of Victor Von Doom...I don't know...I wish they had Doom and the F4 at the very beginning of the MCU...I do think Thanos would not have happened first...I could be wrong...but if Doom has the potential to be the "final boss" of the MCU how do you top these two epic events...Infinity and Multiverse related?

Regardless of that, I don't think they need to go bigger for every event. Whatever comes after Secret Wars doesn't have to be bigger. Just has to be good

Jonathan Majors has been charged with physical assault- jeopardizing his role as Kang. He might be recast or scrap Kang Dynasty Secret Wars and replace Kang with Doom instead

More likely they would just recast if needed. Variants don't all look the same from universe to universe, so Kangs don't necessarily have to look like Majors. But they ain't scrapping Kang for Doom. They have too much invested into Kang. Using Doom now as a sub prob would massively delay the slate. Recasting would not

The moment I saw this story, my first thought was “Hmmm, could this be good for Doom?”

… then I immediately chided myself for having such thought amidst such a serious situation.

But that’s the best thing about this place. I can come here and realize I’m not alone.

Yep as a comic fan it's exactly the first thing that popped up in my brain too...but at the same time you hope he isn't really like that

I might just be rationalizing, because I did get a little twinge of excitement when I thought maybe this would result in Doom showing up sooner, but I want them taking their time and doing Doom right. I don’t want them rushing him because of an unexpected circumstance.

I know I am biased cause of my Doom obsession but the more i see all this turmoil and such with Marvel and Kang's debut movie not doing great, I have to wonder if Marvel should have prioritized Doom as the next big bad....things are topsy turvy right now for Marvel with power figures being outed, your new big bad possibly in trouble with the law, lots of people complaining about the product...honestly I am concerned that Doom if actually created will not have a long shelf life especially if these trends continue.

Yeah my hope (and hopefully it’s not just foolish optimism) is they do something of a “fresh start” with the FF and Doom and Galactus and Silver Surfer and X-Men…

I feel like they’ve got themselves into a mess. Their A-Listers are mostly gone and they’re limping along with B and C listers.

And this whole “Multiverse” thing, while fun and novel in small doses, has become all consuming and annoying.

Add into that some poor scripts and weak directors and half-hearted Disney+ efforts, and it’s not the MCU I want Doom to be born into.

With some refocused effort and an introduction of great characters that Fox used to control and an end to this Multiverse/Kang fiasco, I can imagine them turning a corner and starting fresh. But they’re not there yet. They’re still smack-dab in the middle of the yech.:nervous:

Hindsight is always 20/20. Why I prefer to be results based on the end. We are on the path that we are on. I think the MCU will rebound eventually, and when it does hopefully we have much to look forward to like Dr Doom, continuing adventures of the FF, a MCU X-Men, etc

They will not replace Kang with Doom. It's much easier to recast Majors than rewrite the entire saga's back half to convert it to a Doom story

I’d like at least a reference and they can go big with him in the sequel. Also can start introducing him to the wider MCU ahead of becoming the next big bad after Kang.
