My God... would I love to see the Niners get Jackson....
While you never know, I think you're probably right. At some point, Jackson is going to drive his trade value down enough that it'll be worth it for someone. The other thing is that if the Ravens franchise him, he's gonna be making a whole, whole lot of $$$ because the position pays so well. I wonder if he pulls a Cousins....that seems like the most likely scenario.
Interesting. I don't see Bill and Lamar getting along that well and I sure don't see Jackson signing at a discount. Everyone is all about winning.......until their paycheck comes into play. LOLI just heard today that Jackson wants to play for the Patriots. Not sure how accurate that is or if its true. The Patriots are one of the teams that could potential pay Jackson heavily, but Belichick's not the kind of guy that would want to overpay a quarterback and lose heavily on other needs.
Brady took a home town discount for 20 years and it benefited them like crazy. Don't really seem them doing this.
Levis "might" be overrated, but consider the team he was playing for as opposed to Young and Stroud. His offensive line was a complete and utter hot mess and he didn't have much in the way of receivers. If you put him on an Alabama or OSU team, who knows how he would have looked?cbssports provides a ranking for the top 30 NFL prospects here (overall, not by position):

The two interesting players to me are Will Levis and Bijan Johnson. Levis, because he is overrated but some teams are so desperate for a QB that they are willing to reach for the guy; and Bijan, because I think he is a game changer but there is such a prejudice against picking RBs early that some lucky team will probably snag him in the latter half of the first round.

By the way, I thought Dan Marino was overrated coming out of college so nobody, NOBODY should listen to me. LOL
EDIT: Just to emphasize the above point, I also thought there were a few better wideouts than Larry Fitzgerald in his draft class.
Yeah.....Miami scored like fat rats. I wasn't worried about the pot stuff because I was probably whacked at a Grateful Dead concert or hanging at the Keystone for a Jerry Garcia show. I just whiffed.Isn't it amazing that Marino was drafted #27 by the Dolphins? That boggles the mind. His rookie season he took the Fins to the AFC Championship, a year later to the Super Bowl. All with no running game and no defense.
There were rumors about him and marijuana apparently that killed his stock. Marino was apparently especially angry when Ken O'Brien ("Who's Ken O'Brien?") was drafted ahead of him by the Jets.
On Levis, I've read about him and by all accounts he is first round material, but I'm not sure if he is top #10 material. I wouldn't put him on the same tier as Stroud, Young and even Richardson (who is raw but his upside is sky-high). If he gets drafted in the top 10, I think its a bit of a reach, and whichever teams are drafting beneath him are going to reap the benefits.
TBH, Seattle is one of 3 teams that could draft Anthony Richardson and not be in any rush to start him right away, which would give him proper time to develop. The other two teams that could also do that to Richardson are Minnesota and Detroit. Have him play on certain packages? Sure, but no urgency to start him.
Seattle or Detroit "might" be able to get him, but I would be completely shocked if he fell to Minnesota. I could easily see him gone after (or even before) pick #4.
I think it would be bad move for Detroit. First of all, they really don't need a starting QB: Goff is a competent QB and he's only 28. Secondly, Richardson isn't a sure thing. Lions would be fools to waste the #6 pick on a potential boom or bust project.
They need to stick with Goff for the moment and upgrade other areas of the team.
I watched a ton of Levis games as a UK fan. The best way to evaluate him would be to look at his Junior year when the Oline was good and he had future Giant WanDale Robinson at WR. He was solid if not spectacular. He is accurate and makes good plays with his feet. His decision making could improve, he needs to protect the ball better when he is running and he has a bad habit of zeroing in on one target.Levis "might" be overrated, but consider the team he was playing for as opposed to Young and Stroud. I like Levis. He seems like a good kid. He’s really smart. He graduated when he was at Penn State after his Sophomore season with a business/finance degree then spent his two seasons at UK going for a Masters. So he is really sharp. He’s got a ton of physical tools, but I would be concerned with the beating he took in his senior year behind a terrible UK line. That was bar none the worst O lines I’ve seen in quite some time. He is definitely an NFL starting caliber qb, but unless I was hurting, I don’t think I’d take him before the second round.
The really stupid amount of money he's getting aside, giving a 24yr old who has only had one exceptional season a no trade clause is as stupid as stupid gets. If it works out great, none of that matters, but I would hate the idea of giving a young player without a long established track record that kind of power.
This does reset the market though for guys like Herbert and Burrow. Both of them should be getting paid more than this. Hell, this is probably now the floor for Jackson as well.
