Fantastic Four General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Daniel RPK has now clarified on the rumor of negotiation being broken down on Fantastic Four due to request of higher salaries from the cast, claimed it was not true.

Context on the rumor:

Assuming the rumor is true, I would be surprised that a POC wasn't cast as Reed. He always struck me as the one most likely to be race swapped.

So dou yout think the leak about Adam, Margot, Pascal and Daveed is not true?

I’m skeptical, but I wouldn’t bet one way or the other.

These four names have been the ones getting the most talk over the past month or more, so there could be something there, but I wouldn’t be even slightly surprised if a couple names turn out to be wrong.

Does anyone have any insight/information regarding the strike(s)?

I haven’t been paying much attention, so I feel like I have ten pieces of a 500 piece puzzle.

I’ve heard the actors could be striking soon. Will the writers even talk seriously prior to that, or will they wait for the 800 lb gorilla to join them?

Are any studios planning to present at SDCC, or will it be a ghost-town?

If the actors are on strike, I assume Marvel won’t make any cast announcements, even via press release, because they’d want the actors talking up the roles, and they likely won’t want to do that during a strike.

..this one will be down to the wire to close the deals for comiccon mcu panel
And with whom?! I hear Sue Storm is NOT locked..

I’m not a fan of her for Sue, but of the four names, she’s the one who would put butts in seats.

If they lose her, they risk not only having an off-target cast, but one devoid of big names.

Sure people know Adam Driver, but he’s far from a big box-office draw.

Yeah, it’s good to have at least one name that gets people in the door for them to then see the appeal of the others. Worth paying up for her & she will be a megastar after Barbie. :funny: :o

The days of actors being box office draws is long over. Most can’t open a film unless it’s a franchise picture and even that isn’t a guarantee.

Also, here’s a helpful thread on the strike.

I agree. Except for Tom Cruise

I wonder if the issue with Robie might be her wanting top, or at least equal billing with whomever plays Reed.
Also, Tom Cruise is a box office star in the right role, which The Mummy was demonstrably not.

If she backs out. They could come to Jennifer Lawrence. She sucked as Mystique but she has the Hunger Games and her Oscar wins/nominations under her belt.

There's also Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried. They could always offer Emma Stone what she originally wanted. There's plenty of high profile actresses out there.

It's true that no one can guarantee box office success, but there are still a lot of people who will go see a movie because it has, say, Brad Pitt in it. Big name stars are not sufficient for box office success; nor are they a necessity, but they do bring in revenue. If they didn't, they wouldn't get those paychecks. The people making these movies are, I'm sure, evaluating the cost/benefit of hiring those names.

Marvel wants a movie star for Sue, which I am 100% for, but their not willing to shell out the cash to get them.

Stone and Robbie aren't coming near this unless they:

Yeah.
That's why I could see Robbie walking away from the part

And at the end of the day, people like Stone and Robbie really don't need the role career wise.

It's different with people like Hemsworth and Hiddleston who weren't global names when they were cast.

Margot Robbie is already a star , and playing Sue would be more beneficial to Marvel Studios, than it would be to Robbie in terms of boosting her career.

For someone like Kirby , though, a F4 franchise ,could make her a household name.

true. Honestly I would pay to watch a John Wick/Taken movie featuring Keanu vs Liam Neeson
