Best Comic Book Movie Trilogy Ever?

Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy I really like the third one to the point that I even rank it above the first film. Beyond that the only real competition in this category is the Nolan Batman trilogy, but I like Spider-Man 3 more than Dark Knight Rises which is why the Raimi trilogy comes out on top...

I was also 10 years old when the first one came out. The jump scare that got me pretty good was when Harry finds Norman on the floor and it has the jump cut to Norman with his eyes rolled back. Only a handful of movies have caught me off guard with a jump scare to that degree.

The Raimi trilogy is one movie series where I’m glad I caught every entry upon release. Especially with that first movie it’s just hard to replicate the experience of seeing the very first Spider-Man movie for the first time.

Batman '89 The Official Batman (1989) Thread - Part 6

Oddly enough Winkler was at the original premiere. There’s a video on YouTube where he gets interviewed coming out of the theatre. He’s at 1:22.

    Ang Lee's Hulk Appreciation Thread

Completely agree with you here. Superhero films just aren’t as interesting to me anymore when it’s entirely art by committee. 2000-2009 wasn’t a perfect era for superhero movies but every once and a while you got an X2, Spider-Man 2, or a Dark Knight. Films that pushed beyond the boundaries of...

    Ang Lee's Hulk Appreciation Thread

I still remember seeing this awesome trailer in front of Spider-Man. Had no idea that a Hulk movie was coming. I was so excited at the time.

Same, and as I was saying before Spider-Man 3 actually has something to say and I think that message is very admirable to include in a superhero film. Like what other superhero film is there where the hero realizes his own faults and is able to forgive the villain? What other superhero film is...

I didn’t want to add this to the last post in fear of creating a small novella, but I did want to say that I still really like Spider-Man 3. It’s one of those films where even though I enjoy it, I understand the discourse surrounding it. I remember seeing it opening weekend witnessing the jazz...

Now that the Raimi trilogy has passed my grand total of the re-releases was: Spider-Man (2002): 5 times Spider-Man 2: 3 times Spider-Man 3: 3 times The way I see it I finally got to makeup for all the theatrical rewatches I wasn’t able to have as a kid. I would’ve seen 2 & 3 more if I wasn’t...

Completely agree, especially with the use of lines everywhere on the suit. It just looks like what everyone else is doing nowadays.

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

I went to see Spider-Man 3 at Mall of Georgia today, but unfortunately the theatre formatted the film incorrectly. Spidey 3’s aspect ratio is 16:9 (widescreen), but the theatre was projecting it in 4:3. So it was just a box in the middle of the screen. I asked management if it could be fixed...

I think it was one of the last movie series to get a pop soundtrack to coincide with each release.

Ugh don’t get me started on that. I guess my attitude is if I’m feeling nostalgic for the Raimi films I’d rather just watch the films themselves.

Tbh I’m only interested in Tobey Maguire coming back to the role if Raimi is at the helm. No Way Home & even The Flash to a certain extent proved to me that actors reprising their roles in other films made by a completely different team of filmmakers is no indication of quality. I was looking...

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

I also saw Spider-Man 2 last night and am hoping to see it one more time tonight. This movie has only gotten better with age. What gets me is how well the dramatic side of it is handled. That alone is enough to separate it from most films in the genre. That scene between Aunt May and Peter where...

Yes, and there are other examples as well. The sound when Spider-Man is trying to save Gwen in the third film is amazing.

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Spidey 1&3 are the main ones I want to see. I’ve seen theatres do screenings for Spider-Man 2 since its release. As a matter of fact I saw it at a 10th Anniversary screening back in 2014. However, I definitely know that seeing the third film in theaters is extremely rare due to its reputation...

One element that I don’t think Raimi gets enough credit for is the sound design for his films. Watching the movie tonight and last night it was the first time I realized that the Goblin’s voice comes out of different channels in the surround sound when he’s talking to Norman.

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Spider-Man was my Batman 89 in the sense of how much of a cultural event it was at the time. Spider-Man was absolutely everywhere in the lead up to that first film. There was Spider-Man Cereal, Spider-Man tie in’s in Kellogg’s boxes, Spider-Man Pop Tarts, Spider-Man Reebok’s, Spider-Man on candy...
