I legitimately cannot imagine comparing this obvious intentional comedy leaning into its goofiness to Madame Web. Completely and utterly different things.
Why do you hate Mattson again? He strikes me as pretty run of the mill and unremarkable like you’d expect a secondary writer to be.
My only strong feeling about Mattson is that it’s very funny we know he lurks here.
That GoT spin-off is super early days, though. I'll also be a little surprised if it happens as well, the announcement to production ratio of GoT spin-offs is extremely minimal.
I frankly wouldn't get my hopes up about that either even if there winds up being another name on the script. This isn't me dogpiling you about you secretly hating Matt Reeves or something but I am honestly gonna be a little surprised if you like this movie :funny:.
Barry's creepy, almost innocent slurry voice is awesome. The sequel hook of him gas lighting Riddler into thinking they're pals already signals a pretty unique take to me.
I also think him and Pattinson already have an interesting chemistry. I'm not all that into the writing of the deleted...
Not a big fan of the increasing trend towards ‘Actor must feel like good fit for role as real person’. Feels like it fundamentally misunderstands the very concept of acting and performance.
I mean, if we're doing comparisons Phoenix is just doing a lazy greatest hits of previous roles he'd done and is at times clearly actively embarrassed to be there. Barry least comes off as excited and engaged with the material (granted, the writing in the scenes he's gotten is weak but it's...
This franchise already has a lead actor who maintains a heavily cultivated comedy persona at all times in press tours. Barry's just a weird Irish guy. Also who actors are off screen is super irrelevant unless they're a racist or sex pest.
Yeah, Barry is an increasingly big deal which in a meta sense is a major benefit to having him in the role. He's just a really unique, exciting performer. No one else quite has the same vibe as him.
Despite some reservations about his design and the backstory Reeves has talked about I already like him more in the role than Phoenix and Saltburn in particular greatly increased my enthusiasm for him in the role so can't follow you down that road. There's absolutely nothing evocative of Jared...
As a Hulk fan I cannot overstate enough what a miserable experience almost every appearance of The Hulk after the first Avengers has been. Ragnarok gets a pass for being genuinely funny and having some clever insights into the character.
Avatar is a fun, aesthetically gorgeous, accessible, original science fiction franchise that utilizes certain elements of the theatrical experience better than anything else in film history. I get why not everyone likes them (I think they're great) but it's pretty obvious why they click to me...
A multitude of reasons but one of them is probably simply the fact that making Fury Road was a miserable, horrifying experience he likely didn't want to replicate. CG was a way of helping that.
