    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

I went to see Spider-Man 3 at Mall of Georgia today, but unfortunately the theatre formatted the film incorrectly. Spidey 3’s aspect ratio is 16:9 (widescreen), but the theatre was projecting it in 4:3. So it was just a box in the middle of the screen. I asked management if it could be fixed...

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

I think it was one of the last movie series to get a pop soundtrack to coincide with each release.

Ugh don’t get me started on that. I guess my attitude is if I’m feeling nostalgic for the Raimi films I’d rather just watch the films themselves.

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Tbh I’m only interested in Tobey Maguire coming back to the role if Raimi is at the helm. No Way Home & even The Flash to a certain extent proved to me that actors reprising their roles in other films made by a completely different team of filmmakers is no indication of quality. I was looking...

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

I also saw Spider-Man 2 last night and am hoping to see it one more time tonight. This movie has only gotten better with age. What gets me is how well the dramatic side of it is handled. That alone is enough to separate it from most films in the genre. That scene between Aunt May and Peter where...

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Yes, and there are other examples as well. The sound when Spider-Man is trying to save Gwen in the third film is amazing.

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Spidey 1&3 are the main ones I want to see. I’ve seen theatres do screenings for Spider-Man 2 since its release. As a matter of fact I saw it at a 10th Anniversary screening back in 2014. However, I definitely know that seeing the third film in theaters is extremely rare due to its reputation...

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

One element that I don’t think Raimi gets enough credit for is the sound design for his films. Watching the movie tonight and last night it was the first time I realized that the Goblin’s voice comes out of different channels in the surround sound when he’s talking to Norman.

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Spider-Man was my Batman 89 in the sense of how much of a cultural event it was at the time. Spider-Man was absolutely everywhere in the lead up to that first film. There was Spider-Man Cereal, Spider-Man tie in’s in Kellogg’s boxes, Spider-Man Pop Tarts, Spider-Man Reebok’s, Spider-Man on candy...

I felt the same way. The last time I saw it on the big screen I was 10 years old seeing it on opening weekend. A lot has changed since then.

To me the absolutely best thing about Spider-Man 3, and why I do think highly of it despite obvious flaws, is the arc of Peter Parker. I think it’s one of the most unique character arcs I’ve ever seen in a superhero film. When the movie starts out since Peter finally has everything he’s wanted...

What Are The Most Best Looking & Well Shot Comic Book Movies?

Had to make sure Dick Tracy got mentioned in here.

Good Moments From Bad Comic Book Movies?

Completely agree with you on this. This sequence is good fun. Unfortunately nothing else in the next two hours of this film reaches these levels.

I love how all these years later there’s still no definitive answer for what’s in his eye on that poster.

Ah ok, well at least we still have the hype for Spider-Man 3 preserved for now. Thanks for answering.

I know this forum was around when Spider-Man came out in 2002, but I can’t find the threads for Spider-Man 1 & 2. Have they been deleted?

    Spider-Man The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft - - - - Part 13

Absolutely. The hype for the first one was insane. One of the few superhero films in my lifetime that felt like a big event. However, the marketing for 3 was great as well. You would’ve had to have been living under a rock to not know that these films were coming because they just plastered...

I don’t think the window displays would’ve still been up, but the inflatable Spider-Man should’ve still been there. I also came across this picture which looks to be taken around December 2007 and the giant Spider-Man is still in the lobby.

Just to add to my last post, they also had this giant inflatable Spider-Man in the lobby around the same time. Would’ve been amazing to see all this in person. Source: Wally Gobetz
