The Last Jedi What role for Lando?

Imagine Lando Calrissian return of the Episode VIII. For me he come for suport Leia and the Resistance as a Rebellion veteran and revenge Han Solo. I imagine lead a survivor fleet of New Republic against a powerful Neo Imperial base and know the defeat and death ( Chewbacca also died with him in a capital ship )

at the very least a mention of him would be nice

Well there was rumor on the Dubrovnik set that Luke was going to see Lando. Now that they are saying that is externals for the "Casino Planet". The casino planet would definitely be a place Lando would be. So I have a feeling he will be in it.

After the mild backlash over Carrie Fisher's performance, I think they'll be more hesitant to bring in Billy Dee, who suffers from ill health and is VERY different than Lando was back in the OT. I know they said (or implied) he'd be in VIII but I'm doubting it.

I would love to see Billy Dee Williams return, but he uses a cane and isn't as lively as he use to be. I'd be fine if he was as someone said a prominent politician or an owner of some space mines, casino, or has gone back to his roguish, smuggling ways, but I don't expect him to be running around a lot or doing stunts.

as for Billy Dee's health, i did not know uses a cane if Lando is in fact in Episode 8, maybe they can write in how he left the First Order/Rebellion due to injury he sustained or something to that effect

Or maybe we find out that Finn is somehow related to Lando because if that is the case then that would be the only thing that would make sense

If Rey is related to a Skywalker, then Finn/Lando being related would be one coincidence too many, plus it would make for some crappy soap opera subplot, since Finn was raised by the FO since he was a small child.

Lando getting killed five minutes into a movie where Han also gets killed later on would have put a huge damper on The Force Awakens.

I could see Lando as a full councillor actually. That would be cool. I like the idea that he returned to politics

As much as it would run similar to ESB, and we certainly don't need more similarities between the sequels and the OT, I thin it would make sense if Lando was in control of a planet that the heroes visit for help. And of course he'd be more than willing to do anything to avenge Han.

Taking his health issues into effect, maybe they could integrate that into the character, he could use a Cliegg Lars-style hoverchair or something like that.
