Why I don't take Rotten Tomatoes seriously

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/blair_witch_project/

Seriously, these critics havehorrible taste if this crap can get 84%.:whatever:
Do people understand now why Rotten Tomatoes doesn't even cross my mind when determining the quality of a movie.

i liked the first Blair Witch. at the time it came out it wasn't being hated on and it was fairly original. i still think it's one of the most creative films on a cheap budget. BWP2, however, was pretty much crap...

...as for RottenTomatoes.com, i agree w/them about 80% of the time. i think they're FAIRLY reliable. besides, it's not RT's fault if the critics like a movie. all RT does is take the opinions and round them up to come up with an average.

I do agree with you on Rotten Tomatoes being overrated and you should go with your own opinion then listening to others.

The reason that movie got so many good reviews was the fact that what they did was simple and after seeing decades of films that are shot what I will just call "Hollywood style" they did something different. Not going to say they were the first at it, but if it was done before, wasn't done for a very long time(meaning the "semi live action camera").

I liked it for what it was, most people I've found that hated it were simply pissed because they didn't think of that simple idea first.

No, since Blair Witch Project was considered one of the finest, and most original horror films of 90s

It goes without saying that obviously not everyone is going to have the same taste in movies as you. If EVERYBODY liked it, then it would have been 100%, but it isn't. You didn't like it, so you're part of that 16% I'd say rottentomatoes has done it's job just fine.

seriously its called opinion/taste. grow up. and its obviously one of the best sites, because it includes a concensus of all the critics who have seen it. i personally prefer metacritic, just easier to read.

and i for one enjoyed the living **** out of blair witch project. **** the haters.

Somebody who likes Dragonball Z is criticizing other opinions?? What is this crazy world coming to?

But Blair Witch is just one of the overall statistics I strongly disagree with on that site.

Death Proof, Coming to America, Black Sheep, Scary Movie, Pokemon, a majority of their polls seem inaccurate.

If DBZ was as horrible as a movie where nothing happens in it, you'd have a point.:cwink:

Jesus christ dude, how hard is it to understand that not everyone is going to share the same opinion as you on everything. There are plenty of movies that I hate that have gotten high scores, and plenty movies that I've loved that have gotten really low ones, but that's fine. The site isn't there to tell you how much YOU like a movie, it's there to tell you what the majority of critics think.

That's my point. I hate it when debating, other posters use Rotten Tomatoes as the be all end of which movie is better despite it only being a war of opinions. There are no facts to an opinion of what's good, yet I frequently see others use rotten tomatoes as a fact of what is.

Of course there's no facts to an opinion of what's good. That's WHY rottentomatoes is such a great site, because a survey of people like that is the closest thing there is.

And in reality, the majority of people (except for the ones who pay to see every terrible ice cube comedy on opening day) will generally agree with RT about what's good or bad most of the time, but obviously, OBVIOUSLY, not all. There's not a person alive who would seriously argue that everyone is going to agree with the RT rating all the time.

I think RottenTomatoes is good to be used as a guide, not as a bible.

Maybe some people define their opinion not by what doesn't happen, but by what does happen in a movie. Maybe some people feel Dragonball Z is childfare and nothing more, but that would still merely be an opinion.:woot:

Speaking for myself, I've used it to provide a general consensus of the popular opinion of a film. But I never use it as the definitive point as it is just opinions.

You are serious??? Its not like its called "Sloths Movie Review Site". If 84% of the people who reviewed it liked it, but you didnt, its not like you are forced to love the film!?!?!?!

That said, whenever people use it to prove a point, its merely there to say "Look, if 90% of these guys liked it, its gotta be pretty good". Dont take it so personal.

Do you get your news from the onion?

I've been meaning to ask: Is that Solid Snake and Zero Suit Samus simpson style in your avatar (jesus, that was a lot of S's) and if so... where did that come from?

don't get me started on Rotten Tomatoes...seriously...they give some of the worst movies great ratings.

Yeah, it is. Hippy Hunter posted it in the Smash Brawl thread, and I had to have it in avy form....

You do know they rate the movie based on the average rating given by critics and reviewers?
