I think Niners have just about every area that is better than Giants (defense, special teams, running game), and the only area that they're worse off is QB. Plus Niners are playing at home. That's why I give the edge to San Fran.

Coughlin > Harbaugh. Also, I'd say the Giants have a FAR more explosive offense. If they can get a lead and make Alex Smith have to carry the Niners on his shoulders, the G-Men will win. Alex Smith may have been able to beat the worst defense in the NFC....but the Giants are no Saints and contrary to what the sports media seems to think, confidence doesn't suddenly make someone a great player.

Well, Coughlin won SB so yes he is better than Harbaugh, but no one has done a better job as a head coach than Harbaugh this year; he took a subpar team from Singletary, with the average Alex Smith as his QB, and got the 2nd best record in NFC. He has done an unbelievable job, and if his team can advance to the Big Dance it'd be a feather on his hat, for sure.
