  • Xenforo Cloud has scheduled an upgrade to XenForo version 2.2.16. This will take place on or shortly after the following date and time: Jul 05, 2024 at 05:00 PM (PT) There shouldn't be any downtime, as it's just a maintenance release. More info here

World's Finest? Justice League? Reboot? No reboot? Solo Movies before or after?

Scenario 6 and 7 do seem like the most likely.

Would be cool to have JL before the solo films. The solo movies would almost seem like prequels to JL, explaining the origins of the heroes.

Just don't have Darkseid as a villain yet. Brainiac!!

Brainiac as a villain for the entire JL? No thanks.

Wonder Woman and Flash movie in 2015.

Then followed by Trinity movie. The Trinity movie would be the the prelude to the JL movie. With Supes,Bats, and Wondy fighting against the army of Apokolips led by General Steppenwolf. Much like how Earth-2's #1 was........

That's...not big enough at all....

Anywho...Superman's costume in The New 52 is so fugly.

This is from Earth 2 New 52 right? If so, definitely like this costume better than the original New 52 costume.

I'm thinking it'll be the flash. given that fox and marvel are using quicksilver and the supposed concept art using hunnam as inspiration, i think that'll be next. it'll be a race to 2015. just watch.

I'd like a World's Finest before Justice League and a Batman reboot (I really hope they do not dilute Nolan's narrative so I say forget about an actual TDKR follow up). So I vote scenario 7.

Scenario 5: MoS kicks off a new shared universe. Solo movies before JL.
2013 MoS
2015 Flash, WW,
2016 GL Corps, The Batman,
2017 Justice League

I personally think a Batman reboot would have a lot of hype around it.

Remember that GA's (not critics) weren't exactly in love with TDKR. The average person I know found it to be kinda boring, etc (not me, I love it.) Remember, box office numbers aren't indicative of how much they liked TDKR, but rather how much they liked TDK. I'd be curious to see how well a fourth Nolanverse Batman movie would do, especially versus something fresh done by a new director/actor, distancing from everything people didn't like about the Nolan movies, while keeping close to everything people did like about them: a mature handling, emotionally poignant, etc

Remember that GA's (not critics) weren't exactly in love with TDKR.

That 92% on Rotten Tomatoes would say otherwise.

But back to the DC Cinematic Universe...I would say this scenario is the closest to what I've been thinking, but not exactly what I've been thinking.

In Man of Steel, I wouldn't mind some little snippet of Martian Manhunter watching over Kal-El which gives us a sneak peek into that character(as MM deserves to be in the JL, but I don't find him necessary enough to have his own film).

And then in 2015, WB should release Man of Steel 2, Wonder Woman and a Batman reboot(but the reboot is set between the two MOS films while Wonder Woman is set around the same time as MOS 2). That would set up a Justice League film in 2016, or 2017 where the Justice League are of just Martian Manhunter, Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman with Aquaman being introduced in the JL film sort of the same way as he's introduced in Justice League: The New Frontier.

With the second phase of films starting in 2018, I'd then introduced a Barry Allen Flash and a John Stewart Green Lantern.

Have references to a Speed Force in phase one, that then brings us a Flash film and as for Green Lantern, I'd have a mystery/noir film for a GL reboot where the Green Lantern corps are freaking out that all of this chaos has gone down on Earth with new aliens showing up(and maybe even Darkseid in the first JL film) and yet Earth doesn't have a specific Green Lantern(I'd take out the whole Abin Sur storyline and any previous GLs from Earth, making Stewart the only one) and so they scout Earth where they find John Stewart, who is friends with Barry Allen(John being in the Flash film would be aces as well).

So, in simplest terms:

2013 - Man of Steel
2015 - Man of Steel 2, Batman reboot, Wonder Woman
2016(or 2017, depending on if Warner Brothers wants to have some room between the solo films and the JL film) - Justice League that introduces Aquaman
2018 - Flash, Green Lantern reboot with John Stewart, Batman 2
2019 - Man of Steel 3, Wonder Woman 2, Aquaman
2021 - Justice League 2

and so on and so forth...maybe bring in Hawkman and Cyborg down the line as well.

So now it looks like WB really wants to go ahead with MOS 2, which could take the place of World's Finest, following the roadmap I put forth.

I propose a different tread. Batman should be treated as a shadowy figure and ambiguous. He could be Keaton's or Nolan's version. Should WB or DC demands a solo Batman, then I think horror style Batman with the Monk, Manbat, or Hugo Strange and his Monster Men as villains.

2013
Man of Steel.

2015.
World's Finest
Wonder Woman, if there's no TV show
Flash.
Batman, see above

2016.
Justice League.
Martian manhunter solo
Aquaman.

If they were to do one more movie before Justice League what I would do is what I would call the Justice League prequel. The actual League itself isn't assembled, but you know through the course of the movie that these Superheroes do exist and are doing their own thing until the time comes.

It starts out as a World's Finest where Superman meets Batman who both have a common case to take care of and their journey into solving these cases takes them to different cities, not just Metropolis and Gotham but also Coast City, Central City etc etc. In each of these cities you would also incorporate cameo appearances of other heroes in their civilian identities like Barry Allen the Forensic Scientist, Hal Jordan the pilot or John Stewart the Marine veteran or John Jones the detective etc.

Then this journey takes a new turn, both Batman and Superman find themselves having to save the Queen and Princess of Themyscira from assassination(for example). Wonder Woman then follows both Batman and Superman. The World's Finest movie now morphs into a Trinity movie.

I mean:

[YT]iqc7CEE0ekE[/YT]

The end scene then teases the villain for the Justice League movie.

I would release it in May 2015(because I want a big 3 way nerdgasm war with pure-awesomeness like this vs Avengers 2 vs Star Wars VII, I mean who hasn't dreamed off great movies like these all coming out at the SAME TIME) and have Justice League released for April 2016.

With Superman being the first in the DCCU, I think that opens a possibility for a black and grey Batman. Superman inspires others to don costumes and those costumes take design cues from Supes.

I hope so. Im dying to see that grey and black suit. Ill probably be disappointed if the new Batman doesn't wear it.

We know that
Batman and Cyborg
both exist in this shared universe as seen from the easter eggs in MOS, which Snyder both publically confirmed. But I would do World's Finest before a JL movie.

Aquaman IMO needs a solo film before being brought into Justice League. Plus you don't want to crowd the first movie. So he's a sequel character, which won't be seen this decade.

Martian Manhunter is a part of the JL tradition in many ways so I would still have him be a part of this, but a large role is not necessary. He's a good tie-in to other characters. With Cyborg in this world, I see Vic Stone becoming a member before MM does.

David Goyer has said that the plan is to eventually work on Flash and Wonder Woman and treat them with respect in the way that they have with Batman and Superman. But the only "Green Lantern" talk has been from Goyer saying he would do it better than the 2011 movie if he were writing the character. That was a month ago, now it's confirmed that he's writing JL.

SO WB, do WF before JL. And for that first JL movie? Why not have the rebooted Batman and Cavill's Superman both around the same age. Barry's Flash, Wonder Woman, Hal/John for Green Lantern. Give the fans a few easter eggs like they did in MOS. Such as a reference to "Atlantis" & J'onn J'onzz as well as other Gods that may exist in that universe.

Then make a reference to the Cyborg origin.

2015 Man of Tomorrow, Wonder Woman
2016 The Flash, The Batman,
2017 Justice League

or

2015 World's Finest
2017 Justice League

I just wish (hopefully at this year's SDCC) that DC would release a schedule of sorts for their upcoming plans...what movies we can look forward to over the next few years.

Apparently we're not getting anything before 2015, correct? And now i'm not sure if that's going to be Justice League, or MOS2...

Definitely have to get Wonder Woman and Flash out there, and a Batman revamp. (speaking of which, when is it no longer "too soon" for that?)...I have no idea what to do regarding Green Lantern, but those four characters, along with Superman of course, are ESSENTIAL to a Justice League movie, imo. Your thoughts?

I assume they'll announce their plans once they've greenlit these movies.

Also, I don't think that another GL movie is essential before JL (the same way that I don't think The Incredible Hulk was necessary on the Marvel side. I think a solo Hulk movie would have done better after The Avengers than before.).

1. Mos 2, introducing a new Bruce Wayne, hint of Batman at the end
2. World's Finest plus one of Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, whichever can best help set up...
3. Justice League
4. Batman Solo
Whatever else DC wants to do because they'll be rolling in $$$$$$

A Trinity movie is pointless. If they're going to make any crossovers before JL, it should be a WF film. No point in making a film showcasing 3 JL members followed by a film with 5 or 6 JL members.

That's because Hulk is a cultural icon. Same can't be said for GL or Flash. I think WW might be able to get away with it, if people would be receptive to a female action lead. Totally different ball game.

GL and Flash are just as much of a cultural icon as Hulk is. Everyone knows who they are much like how they know who Hulk is.

Agreed. And also, your article about why rebooting batman makes financial sense is very solid.

Yes it does, Superman/ Batman helps bend both universes into one by making sure real life crime and the more science fiction stuff exists together, then Trinity can introduce fantasy and magic into it, this way Justice League is free to do whatever it needs to without having to worry about explaining how it all works together

Thank you. Put a lot of thought into it. :yay:

That is unnecessary. Marvel didn't need an entire crossover film to explain how science and magic fit in. They went straight to The Avengers. How magic fits into the world is something that can be taken take of in a Wonder Woman film very similar to how it was taken care of in Thor.
