Sequels TASM3 Plot and Opening Scene Speculation

There's something about the way TASM2 cuts off that leads me to believe that we'll see the conclusion of the Rhino fight as TASM3 opens.

I also think the following things are a 'lock' for the movie:
* The return of both Osborns
* The introduction of MJ
* Something that facilitates Emma Stone's presence in the film
* The return of Felicia

Also, I'm pretty sure that Smythe, Menken, and Kafka are all dead now.

how come Smythe and Menken are dead?
Menken escaped after Harry's transformation, and Smythe only had a brief cameo as I remember.

I'm pretty sure Smythe is the guy Electro killed when he and Harry showed up to confront Menken.

As for Menken himself, it looked to me like Harry dispatched him just before the transformation fully kicked in; I could be wrong on that, though.

He went into the elevator and escaped, maybe Harry tracked him down in the deleted oscorp scene, which is unfortunate.. that was the most creepy and good looking shot of the goblin from the trailer.

Smythe didn't die. The Oscorp goon Menken hired to cover-up Max Dillon's death died.

Smythe, I presume, got out of the building before the **** hit the fan and Menken is still alive and well.

The impression I got is that Smythe was the 'goon' Menken told to cover up Oscorp's connections to Max. The character certainly looked like BJ Novak's Smythe.

Smythe had glasses and a cardigan sweater. The guy who Electro blew a hole through his stomach was the same guy who Peter confronted in the lobby to allow Gwen Stacy escape and tied his shoes together.

Just back from seeing my 3rd viewing of ASM2.

I have yet noticed a few possible easter eggs and I do mean possible.

During the scene where Harry & Peter at the riverside notice we see a reference to Pier 17 on a warehouse quite clearly. Well to avid Marvel comic readers they will know that Pier 17 has been used in many ASM comics.

ASM 298, ASM 566, and many others

I also thought that the colours of Gwen's outfit (aqua blue top.purple dress, white buttons) at the clock tower scene reminded me of 90's animated series Mysterio costume

^ I'll have to see it again, but the impression I got was that we saw Smythe throughout the movie (first when he's harassing Max, again after Max's accident, again during the meeting after Norman's death, again when Harry and Pete are skipping rocks, again when Gwen is being chased, again when Menken kicks Harry out of Oscorp, and finally when Harry and Electro come back to force Menken to give Harry access to Special Projects).

It'll be awesome ato see the opening scene open with Black Cat stealing something. The opening seen to ASM2 was perfect.

Smythe is more than likely still alive. It would be a waste to off him so soon

I'm imagining the final scene to be Peter Parker opening his door, and an unseen MJ delivering the lines "Face it Tiger, you just hit the Jackpot!"

I want to see the kingpin, who rescues smythe and turns him into the spider slayer. He kidnaps mj and his aunt and spiderman has a choice to save them or save the city.

The movie begins with Spider-Man swinging through the city as John Jameson’s space shuttle enters the atmosphere. However, communication is lost, and it's headed for New York.

The shuttle crashes down in the Hudson River, Spider-Man swings in just in time to get the astronauts out, and when he goes back for Jameson, an explosion rips open the side of the shuttle, and water rushes in. We the audience think all hope is lost, but then Spider-Man comes to the surface with Jameson in hand.

As Spider-Man swings off we see a black goo on the back of his suit. It's attached itself to Spider-Man.

Mysterio frames spider-man and Jameson puts a bounty on his head. Peter must deal with his personal loss, media hatred and Kraven, who comes to hunt the spider. Ock's origin is hinted. In the end it's revealed that Harry was behind everything and after a long battle Peter kills the goblin.
Octopus gathers the remaining members of the Six: Mysterio, Kraven, Rhino, Vulture and Shocker.

Well, having seen the movie finally it seems pretty obvious some of the things that are going to happen...

The Gentleman and Harry had the whole discussion about finding "suitable candidates" and keeping it small. Obviously the number he is thinking of is say... six, including himself.

So unless they have a movie dedicated to The Gentleman bringing some petty burglar types together to give them the equipment to become super villains (which would be a horrible movie idea), then we'll see this happen towards the beginning of TASM3.

The main question right now is will they start TASM3 right from the point where they ended TASM2? This actually seems like a possibility, unfortunately!

Here's just some ideas...

Peter is still broken from the loss of Gwen. He's haunted by dreams and visions of the two of them, living together & happy. Rather than deal with this, he pushes himself into Spider-Man work. This threadline permeates throughout the movie..."Peter Parker, No More."

With more Spider-Man action, there's more pictures to take--Peter's working steady freelance for Daily Bugle (Introduce JJJ, Robbie, Betty, etc.)

Near the film's beginning, I'd have Spider-Man take down a small band of robbers (easy intros for characters like Flint Marko, Enforcers, etc.). He's being monitored by Spider-Slayers silently surveying the entire city.

Gustav Fiers & Smythe watch the feed & study Spider-Man's movements & style from Fiers' new CEO office at OsCorp. Fiers is essentially Harry's eyes and ears, as he reports to Osborn in Ravencroft about the outside world (so Osborn has "plausible deniability").

The plan is to use Chameleon to impersonate Spider-Man and frame him, ultimately turning the city against him. Osborn has him attack a major gala/event where JJJ and the Mayor are in attendance. Spider-Man vs. Spider-Man...enough doubt is raised where public opinion turns & Spider-Man deals with the hate.

Now, he must wonder. "No more Peter Parker...now, no Spider-Man? Identity crisis"

Mysterio would be an additional villain in the story, though I'd keep his origin separate from OsCorp. Quentin Beck and Phineas Mason (Tinkerer) create the elaborate Mysterio to counteract the new villainous Spider-Man (Chameleon). **Lots of illusions, smoke, explosions, & somehow include illusions of Gwen, Ben, parents, Capt. Stacy, etc.**

Mysterio starts trying to plot destruction in order to appear heroic, so Peter/Spider-Man must realize who he really is and stand up as the city's true hero, restoring his tarnished reputation, moving on from his guilt, and fighting Mysterio & Chameleon.

Additional:

Mary Jane is present in movie. Aunt May notices Peter slipping deeper away and tries to set the two up. MJ offers him an anchor and a shoulder to cry on.

Spider-Man sneaks into Ravencroft and confronts Harry about Gwen's death (and to interrogate him on his involvement in Chameleon and/or Mysterio).

Maybe a Black Cat sequence where Felicia, hired by Osborn, breaks him out Ravencroft...setting GG up for TASM4 with the Sinister Six (GG, Ock, Mysterio, Electro, Rhino, Vulture).

Visual Ideas....

Maybe go bigger on the fish helmet, but Mysterio's look should very much be updated (keep green & purple hues, though).

Chameleon should be an ordinary man underneath his Spider-Man costume, though he develops an almost "stalker" vibe for Peter / Spider-Man...becomes consumed with replacing him.

He should also use OsCorp gear that simulates the Spider-Man powers (increase strength, web shooters, etc.)

I don't know how it should start, but I definitely know how it should conclude:

DIG009718_1.jpg

With New York turned against him by Mysterio and/or Chameleon's schemes, and Aunt May's life on the line due to an earlier attack on his civilian identity, Spidey pushes himself to the limit to escape the debris of the Sinister Six's hideout (Oscorp? Pier 17?), takes down all the villains by himself and races to successfully save the life of a loved one after having failed at protecting George and Gwen, and clears his name from all the fake!Spidey shenanigans.

It's just as iconic as Gwen's death in my eyes, and it needs to happen!

More than likely the Sinister Six is next and more than likely the Sinister Six story will conclude in TASM3. That doesn't mean that all of the Six will be dead, or even captured, just that Spidey (and friend(s)) will have defeated them.

That's a lot to tell in one story, but by using known characters, and/or having a set-up movie (the rumored/announced Sinister Six movie - blech!), it is very feasible.

TASM4 should be used for the Venom story.

^ As far as I know, the Sinister Six movie isn't going to be released until AFTER TASM3.

^ Just checked and you're right. It has a 2018 release date.

Ok, that's just stupid. Are they going to turn the Sinister Six into good guys? If not, then this is plain stupid! The general audience doesn't want to see a bunch of bad guys planning their take over of the world, unless it culminates in the good guy, the hero, beating their butts.

Like I explained, I could almost see a kind of prequel movie to set up TASM3, but an S6 movie after TASM3????? Only works if the S6 will be the main group in TASM4, and all evidence points to them being in TASM3.

A Sinister Six movie?????..... I'm still shaking my head on that decision.

TASM3 will probably be used to continue setting up the Six before their solo movie focuses on them and tells the story from their point-of-view as they go after Spider-Man.

Webb has all but said that he really wants to do both Kraven and Mysterio, and unless he comes back for TASM4, TASM3 will be his last opportunity, so I'd put good money on those two being the driving force behind TASM3's storyline, with SS setup happening in the background (just as was the case in TASM2).

But for a Sinister Six movie to happen all Six of the villains would need to be there. If some get taken out during TASM3 then it will again be too much of a been there, done that if they are brought back (broken out of prison, etc.).

Also, the general audience doesn't want to see things from the villains point of view. You and I might like the idea, but the majority wants Spiderman to win. They care about Peter Parker and want to see what he is dealing with. This is not the Avengers where you have six heroes being brought together, these are the villains. The general audience wants to despise the villains and root for theri demise. For example, after seeing how bad Max was during the first half of TASM2, I really wanted him to get beat at the end...

Honestly, I just don't get the concept of a Sinister Six movie that happens after the Spiderman movie. I do get the idea of a Venom movie if it was done after a spiderman movie with Venom as the villain, since Venom becomes an anti-hero. That can work, but the S6, not as a setup movie but after they are in a Spiderman movie??????...

I am more worried than ever about the future of this "universe".

I think the Sinister Six should just be an ensemble film of Spider-Man fighting a group of villains. Still keep it from Spider-Man's POV, but also delve deeper into the motivations of each villain.
