Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series

Just played Episode 5. Really sets up the final episode.

I think 5 was the best yet! Super dramatic ending, damn! *sobs*

Does anybody reckon Mira's decisions to keep the paper, the knife, the strange key will play a part in her finale?

Perhaps keeping none was the best thing :hmm

Asher.

I personally felt it right. Everybody is saying Asher is the true lord and the only one who can save the house and I believe that. I loved Rodrick, and I hope he got Elaena pregnant. It would make a fine tribute to him.

So [BLACKOUT]who did you chose to live[/BLACKOUT] at the end?
Both. I played on both 360 and X1 so have 2 active games.

Interesting! I can't argue with your logic either. I went the other way, but now after reading your post I think your choice might have made more sense. [BLACKOUT]Although in the predicament they were in, it seemed more likely that Asher would be the one to sacrifice himself, I guess. [/BLACKOUT]

Darn it! Best-of-both-worlds me will you?! :argh:

I can't fault that predicament, either. Asher never wanted to be Lord and it never crossed his mind. As far as he was concerned, Rodrick was the Lord of house Forrester and he was just a sell-sword, entrusted with the duty of bringing his brother an army. It's likely Asher would've been the first to jump in fight and to save his brother, like their mother stated to Ethan in episode 1. But every choice Asher faced in those episodes was set up either him changing and becoming true lord material, or never changing and being just as hot-headed as he was when he got sent away. Rodrick can put his faith in him or more into Mira being the one to save the house. But it's always hinted that Asher is the one who can save the house by fighting, whereas we see him also using his skills as a level headed diplomat. Rodrick and the rest don't know that, so Rodrick's heroism and decision to save his brother to become the Lord is purely based on how well Asher can fight and win his battles, as we see ourselves throughout the episodes. Rodrick is also a fierce protector of his family, so it also plays into his decision of sacrifice. However, Asher is just the same and most likely sees his life as nothing beyond than just his mercenary ways.

But in the end I had it be Rodrick who sacrificed himself, because like he heard and knew at the end of the day, that only Asher could win their house the freedom that it needed, and not himself. Also, I reacted on each Lord's previous sacrifice. Lord Gregor sacrificed himself for Gared in order to ensure the house's safety with the North Grove. Lord Ethan sacrificed himself for Talia. Lord Rodrick sacrificed himself for Asher.

And with that, I do hope Rodrick lives on in Elaena's child, if she managed to fall pregnant. That was more than just a typical GOT sex scene, I believe.

With Asher surviving, I'm thinking he will either wipe out the Whitehills, or make peace with them, despite everything. I think him meeting with Gwyn again might play into the fate of their house, or the both.

Geez, I hadn't even considered that if Rodrick dies they would have lost 3 lords within what, a couple of months? That's got to be some kind of record!

You gave the sacrifice a lot more thought than I did, maybe I should have pushed the pause button -but the pressure and excitement of the moment got me. You make a very solid argument for Asher living. Oh well, there's always a second play-through to be had!

There's something funny about having our entire conversation under spoiler tags, but I'm sure people appreciate it.

This is one of those times when it really pays to have 2 core playthroughs. Often I end up making the same decisions, especially if it's any opportunity to be an ******* to Ludd Whitehill but this is definitely one where you want to see how both paths play out.

That's a good point. But I play to mark my one decision and path. After completion, then I'll move onto the other.

Just finished Episode 5 & are they serious with this **** ? Some major good **** better happen in the last episode. Or I may not even bother with Season 2 if it happens. I know this is Game Of Thrones & all but damn watching the show is enough for me

My first playthrough IS my playthrough and whoever lives/dies or whatever mistakes I make will carry over for good. The 2nd playthrough is more fun when I can do whatever I want, offend anyone I want (which often leads to the same choices anyway lol), but for the biggest decisions I will do the opposite choice so I can see what would have happened. It's like an alternate reality version of my story.

What didn't you like in this episode? Or are you talking in general about the whole game? (all seasons)

Basically the good guys getting screwed over constantly is getting tiredsome lol. Im enjoying the game in general but I also get enough of that watching the show. I just want a satisfying finale where the bad guys get screwed over for once. Especially in terms of the House Forrester plot. It is time that the Forresters get a major win in the finale

They are getting a lot of **** but I'm pretty sure the finale will be the Whitehills getting crushed. Just a shame that Ramsay Bolton is probably untouchable.

I kinda am rooting for the Whitehills. The Forrester's winning would be so very non-GOT.

Well we haven't seen a final finale from book or show yet so I expect some kind of victory in both at the very end mixed in with the usual ****, deaths, tragedy and gore. The Whitehills winning would make sense for future seasons of the game but if they were planning that I would have expected them to have more positive moments and victories in season 1 but ending in a horrendous way. If it's all bad (although I guess the Asher/Beshka stuff was mostly light hearted and fun) then some (like Victor here) may end up not buying the next season. It's not fun, esepcially when you are interactive, to always have to bend the knee, kiss the ring and get ****ed over with no pay off, even at the end!

I wonder what will happen to Mira, though? Sounds like she's getting set up for death or imprisonment.

I saved Asher in my playthrough. Roderick is a good dude. But he does not have the balls or guts Asher has to get **** done that will need to be done. If Roderick lived & had a wedding. They might as well name that wedding The Whitehills Death Trap. As surely if the Whitehills find out about a wedding. They would ruin that as well

I'd like it if the choice led to the difference between victory and defeat actually.

That's what I believe will happen. I think, if Asher is involved, it will depend on his choice, with Gwyn urging him to make peace. Probably.

I saved [BLACKOUT]Rodrik[/BLACKOUT] in my game. [BLACKOUT]He already survived death once, is engaged to Elena, and seems more suited to be a lord. Asher was a great character but seemed more like a warrior destined for a warrior's death. So that's what he got! You defended and build-up the Forrester's as Rodrik a lot and I felt like some of that progress would have been undone with Asher taking over.[/BLACKOUT]

Definitely the hardest decision in the game so far and maybe even in all the Telltale games. I had to pause and think about it for awhile.

Did you guys choose to kill or imprison the traitor? I kept them alive. [BLACKOUT]Duncan was the traitor for me. I imagine that differs depending on who you pick to be the sentinel?[/BLACKOUT]

I also saved Rodrick. It was hard, awful choice but like you I felt like he had certain advantages over Asher, as great a character and fighter as he was. For me the season has overall been about Rodrick's journey to hopefully becoming a victorious leader of his house. Even more than the other characters the backbone of the story has been Rodrick's arc, at least that is how it has taken shape for me. So it felt preferable to keep him alive. Of course there will be untoward consequences for that, as there always are.

Also, the traitor is whoever you don't pick for sentinel.
