Msft still has the European verdict and FTC case plus MSFt is already appealing so nothing for Sony to celebrate but I’m sure they r enjoying this little fumble

Isn't the FTC against the buyout of ActiVision | Blizzard + King?Msft still has the European verdict and FTC case plus MSFt is already appealing so nothing for Sony to celebrate but I’m sure they r enjoying this little fumble
The dude who started the Take Two rumour always makes up ****. Even if anything he says one day happens to actually happen it won’t be because he knew anything any more than a baby with a dartboard one day hitting the right mark would know.
But then why did you say earlier in the thread that you don't like that Sony is potentially losing CoD? That is a complete contradiction of what you are saying now.I am looking forward to it because it could potentially change console wars/competition in the neXt several moves which is going to be interesting to watch.
I don't have much interest in buying an Xbox either, but if this deal falls through I feel like I won't have much of a choice if I want to continue being a console gamer the way I have been.I have no interest in getting a XboX but seeing how PlayStation tries to one up Microsoft could be really eXciting as a ps player, IF they played their cards right.
And yes Spider-Man 2 is coming out in September, but in almost 3 years of the ps5, that's the only 4th first party game coming from Sony I'm willing to pay for in this current generation. I feel like ideally, compare to the ps4 era, there should be more that would appeal to me. And I don't count the remakes/remasters of their ps4 games for the ps5.
I never heard of them either, but remember - that's just another studio, so small that a lot of people haven't even heard of it. Not at all comparable to buying a full on publisherSony Acquires AAA Multiplayer Developer Firewalk Studios - IGN
Never heard of them but I hope whatever they r working is good
Yes, it is way too early for Sony to celebrate. CMA won't be able to gate keep the deal by themselves. The more organizations that approve, the more pressure there will be on them to bend to the appeal. Is it too early for Sony to celebrate? Though I could see Microsoft going for another company if the ActiVision Blizzard buy out fails.
All evidence is pointing towards the deal getting approved. CMA seems to be the only roadblock for mS.Msft still has the European verdict and FTC case plus MSFt is already appealing so nothing for Sony to celebrate but I’m sure they r enjoying this little fumble
boy, do I wish that was the case. but it seems more alive than ever. Apparently, mS wanted the FTC to put an intermittent block on the deal.Isn't the FTC against the buyout of ActiVision | Blizzard + King?
Unless there's still some shocking twist here, I think this deal is dead.
Anyway, this is quite entertaining regardless what happens.
Absolutely. The link I posted above was revealed after the FTC's attempted blockI think the FTC will review it in courts and then make a decision but the FTC case is where we will get all the juicy facts from both msft and Sony
Witcher 3 is one of the greatest and best selling video games of all time, but it is not high enough of a caliber to be on the level of CoD. That's why in my opinion, it has to be GTA for Sony.Sony 'Not in Talks' with CD Projekt RED About an Acquisition
Even though its fake I wouldn't have mind Sony acquiring them. CD Project are great at storytelling.
lmao! indeed, if anything the only credit he might have gotten is Sony catching him make this rumor and getting the idea from him.The dude who started the Take Two rumour always makes up ****. Even if anything he says one day happens to actually happen it won’t be because he knew anything any more than a baby with a dartboard one day hitting the right mark would know.
even according to this analogy, Xbox is the rich kid on the block while playstation is still the more popular kid (for now)Yeah, not only is it very hard to believe but seems born out stupid console competitive spirit. I swear, so much of the console debates boils down to schoolyard arguments for me haha "My dad could beat up your Dad." "Yeah, well my dad just acquired Take Two and Activision Blizzard!"
Absolutely it is. But that's the point of these regulators, to keep these greedy businesses in check. And somehow, the vast majority of them are approving of one of if not the biggest company in the world, making their biggest acquisition ever which their competitor could either never do or would have a very hard time pulling off.Greed is a sin. But this is just the nature of the business world.
well, you are not obligated to answer my comments at all. I was only asking because in the beginning I agreed with you 100% and then you took a 180, which would have to make me disagree with you 100% and I just wondered why the sudden change of heart. As for your comments to my posts, I am not in the mood to answer them all and go back to what I've said weeks or months ago.
Sony is taking this very seriously. They literally said their business would never recover if this goes through.I guess its miXed feelings for me. I don't care about Call of Duty and fps games. But I also don't want PlayStation to lose profit from Call of Duty sales because who knows what it will do to PlayStation and their studios. And at the same time, I want Sony to be more competitive even if Microsoft isn't acquiring Activision | Blizzard | King. And at the same time, this led to a lot of interesting reading in the internet, like lots of revelations and tidbits.
Sony worries Microsoft will only give it a “degraded” Call of DutySuch a move would "seriously damage our reputation," Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan told the CMA in a recent hearing. "Our gamers would desert our platform in droves and network effects would exacerbate the problem. Our business would never recover."
I've been playing CoD since the OG MW2 and mS said they will keep CoD on playstation for 10 years, but in that time they could sabotage the playstation versions of the games if they wanted to and after the 10th year they could take CoD off completely. And they will.I love COD have been playing ever since the OG game came out on the OG Xbox but since I prefer PS over Xbox and most of my COD games have been purchased on a PS console… I really would like for COD stay Multiplat instead of becoming an Xbox exclusive in the foreseeable future.

if this isn't enough proof that mS's end game with this sort of acquisition is to crush playstation out of existence (to hell with any competition business), then I don't know what it is.

true, but they are also that same company that makes arguably the best Spider-Man movies ever. I wouldn't say they are making Spider-Man the main superhero himself harder to be in the MCU, with the last deal they signed I don't think he'll ever be out of that franchise/main universe. but yeah, they really need to take a hint with their spinoff movies. To be fair, this is the same company that is making it harder for Spider-Man to be in the MCU, by making spin off movies of every Spider-Man villain.
I do. I have been playing CoD for over 10 years and have been a playstation gamer for over 20 years and I don't want to be forced to buy an Xbox just to continue playing this game on a console. However, after this and last week's news, I think I will end up having to do just that.Who cares if Call Of Duty is Xbox and PC exclusive,
It isn't about losing profit. playstation is just one product of Sony, just like how Zune was one product of Microsoft's. what worries me about this deal isn't about Sony's survival, but playstation's.Sony can just regain lost profit with 1 SpiderVerse movie, and their other Playstation exclusives.
even if most of the email was redacted and it is from several years ago, I think it proves what the company's intentions are. not that it matters, since the acquisition is officially approved.I'm not sure how it proves anything, since the email is redacted. At most it would prove a single executive made a passing comment about beating playstation.... back in 2019, years before this acquisition was a twinkle in their corporate eye haha
yeah I get it man, you're talking about fanboyism. I'm all for corporate competition, but not in a way that's unfair to all of the players. Sony doesn't have mS money, they don't have the cash to do what mS just did with Activision. but that's what I personally have a problem with, is mS buying the market to gain marketshare. and again, if it was a portion of the market that they already had a close working relationship with, then I think it would be fair play. but it isn't; it is the biggest publisher and mS's biggest acquisition ever.To be clear, my issue is mostly people projecting these ideological personalities onto each company, depending on where their brand loyalty is. Both are companies with obviously corporate interests. But I find it unsettling how people barrack for a console like it's a football team.
Like to be clear, there is no underdog in this scenario haha.

Look it's obviously a massive acquisition, but I still think there's an element of six of one, half dozen of the other. Sony has proven they're totally willing to spend extra on most of the bigger 3rd party titles to keep them exclusive and away from Xbox. What we don't know is how long they've been doing it for, how much they've been spending overall. Yes MS just bought a massive piece of video game real estate, but if we're talking about insidious corporate tactics, I thought many of the revealed emails and documents in the FTC case showed that MS's recent acquisitions were entirely reactionary to that practice of being blocked out of games (Particularly Bethesda, since it looked like PS were going to try and buy exclusivity on that anyway).
So my point isn't to diminish the scope of the MS deal but view it in context. It's worrying, yes, but it's also a response to years of pretty shonky business tactics too. I would've been equally worried about the trajectory of Sony WITHOUT competition tbh.
Sony is gonna go after square enix first, Take Two is way too big for them but If msft wants to go for the jugular they should totally buy Take Two lol we all know After activision / blizzards merger they r pretty much untouchable, Microsoft has to already be planning their next acquisitions
By the way, what do you mean by "shonky" in this context?
the thought of mS having control of Take Two on top of Activision not only feels unfair, but just downright scary. Sony has to go after them first.Sony is gonna go after square enix first, Take Two is way too big for them but If msft wants to go for the jugular they should totally buy Take Two lol we all know After activision / blizzards merger they r pretty much untouchable, Microsoft has to already be planning their next acquisitions
the part of @Superhero 101 's post that you bolded was about mS planning their next acquisition, and I don't think there are any laws against that. but on top of that, I believe he's right. once this deal goes through, a year or two from now they'll plan their next one. A lot of people think it is going to be Sega, but I don't really get why. Did Sega ever have a close working relationship with mS?I dont know, isnt there some law against that?
MS will not buy anything that huge again for some years.
The Buy alone cost a lot of money, and then you have the additional costs, the delay etc...it will take a while till they make profit with this acquisition, so they wont really think a lot about another one i think.
Sony getting SE seems like a no brainer, but i rather want sony to focus on what they have and make their IPs a huge success instead of buying new IPs like MS does.
Especially seeing how little MS does with what they have bought in years.
ohhhhhh, okay. you'll have to excuse my ignorant American assOh this might be an aussie/british term that slipped in haha. But I guess slightly "suss" or a little dodgy.
once again, we are in 100% agreement! (I am assuming you are talking about Sony purchasing Take Two)Its time for Sony Group Corporation to make their big purchase of the century!
-Take Two has to come firstTake 2, Capcom, Ubisoft, Square EniX, Konami or all of them.
With Assassin's Creed, you get to visit a different country and time period in every new game and just free roam the open world if you want to. To me thats very appealing. And there aren't any other franchise doing that if I'm not mistaken.Meh in feel like COD Assassins NBA 2k and FIFA games all land in the same category… same product with a dash of new features
