I'm pretty sure Sonic Generations was 2011, the wikipedia says so.
No platforming or puzzle catagory? These are pretty bad nominations imo.

I was just checking out gamespot (which has a partnership) and in announcing the awards they pretty much negated the entire existence of RTS. That pretty much indicates that this is more mainsteam dude bro awards.

The "oscars" of games used a credbility buzzword (became gaming is generally seen as not having any) is pretty silly in itself as well. As the oscars have always had questionable credibility. A good example would be Jeff Goldblum in the 1986 movie "the fly". He was completely snubbed not because of his acting ability but because of the genre (horror) he was in. Same thing happening here and with pretty much every gaming award. "judged by developers" all of whome as not exceptional and do not make or have anything to do with RTS games., I look forward to the day when gaming rises about MTV level. Maybe then games will rightfully get due credit for being good rather than mainstream. :<

You're just pissed the game you like didn't get a ton of nominations. Grow up

But i'm right. And the problem isn't that it wasn't nomimated, it was the reasoning behind it.
Also "simulators", how many simulators are listed? None. DCS: Warthhog? One of (if not the most) realistic depiction of a plane to date? Nope. Doesn't exist.

No you just think you're right because of your f***ed up logic on what the video game industry should be. News flash bro guy, the industry doesn't revolve around you. Thank god. I still dont understand why you even waste your time coming here. Do you think your whiney, pain in the ass attitude will change everyone's perception of the industry?

No you just think you're right because of your f***ed up logic

But it's perfectly sound logic, a perfectly valid complaint and probably one of the biggest (and increasingly bigger) problems of the gaming industry.

News flash bro guy, the industry doesn't revolve around you. Thank god.

It seems I am arguing for equality, decency and fairness.
I think it's very poor form to oppose such a positive attitude.

do you think your whiney, pain in the ass attitude will change everyone's perception of the industry?

I suspect at some point (maybe not now) people will wake up.
Gaming compared to other forms of media is still in it's very early stages. It's pretty low brow for the most part. Coke can production games and MTV style media are the driving force. That doesn't mean it will always be that way. So yes,not me, but eventually, people will adopt a similar point of view I have.

Damn, you mean we have to put up with your infantile whining for that much longer? I mean its only going to get worse by your point of view.

I guess it'll be fun to watch as the industry further moves away from you though.

If fun means being angry to the point of insulting, knock yourself out. This venomous attitude of opposing me for the sake of opposing me is in itself, juvenile. I'm not saying you should agree with this point of view, however, it would probably be best to develope an opinion on something more than a school yard mentality. I think also part of the problem is that you are a mainstream gamer, you haven't really played the games I played or have indeed played in the past and most likely go with what you know, which is understandable. I also think if you care about gaming as a whole, you probably would agree with my point of veiw. I'm not saying you don't care about gaming but I think the schoolyard attitude just seems to get in the way of having an un-bias viewpoint. I think most of the time, you totally let that attitude get in the way of your thinking (as with alot of people in general).

Overall, given how much these awards are touted, i'm extreamly dissapointed. Getting Jay Mohr is also a mistake. He isn't witty, he is just very rude and unpleasant. Adam Sessler is also a mistake, he doesn't have a presenter voice, he sounds very much like a rat dying of throat cancer and is clearly a mainstream dude-bro presenter (G4). Unless someone wonderful such as Gabe Newell or Sid Meier is on stage, I wont be watching.

No, your problem is you feel your way of gaming is it and there is no other way to look at it. You can't go 5 posts without saying something negative. You claim i have formed a biased opinion, you've done the exact same thing with your annoying "dude bro", "coke can" "whack a mole" comments towards ANYTHING you aren't a fan of. You troll for the utter hell of it. I mean why else do you think you are banned from even posting in the Skyrim thread? I can't recall someone else from this message board being banned from a thread because they dont know how to act right.

There were some great speakers this year. David Jaffe, Sefton Hill and Todd Howard are fantastic.

Heres Sefton Hills presentation.
