That was my point. Pacino is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors to ever walk the face of this earth (everyone acts like The Godfather is Brando's movie, but that's bullsh** as far as I'm concerned... Brando is a legend, but Pacino owns everyone in that film and the majority of other good films he's been in). But even someone as great as Pacino can't make a bad movie good... and although I wouldn't go so far as to call Ocean's 12 a bad film, it really wasn't a worthy sequel compared to the original. Perhaps they could redeem themselves with a third one, but with what appears to be the previous leading ladies (Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta Jones) not coming back, that doesn't look good for the next movie. Now, as I've stated countless times, I've never been a very impressed with Julia Roberts's work, but her character was an integral part of the series. I don't see how it could work without her and if they're just going to replace her... that probably won't work.
