Hopefully this will turn out better than Mighty No. 9.

I would hope so. Everyone knew something was off about MN9 once they started showing real screens and gameplay, however this and Bloodstained keep looking better and better.

EP Daily Rundown for September 26, 2016

Today in the Rundown, we slice through the latest entertainment news stories, including juicy details on a big screen Fruit Ninja movie, another new movie based on a virtual reality short film, a pair of not-so-stylish glasses from Snapchat, timely news news about the new Doctor Who spin-off Class, and finally, we dig a cool piece of crossover news about Shovel Knight!

If you like cutesy video game crossovers, you might dig this. The noble and brave Shovel Knight will appear in the new 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee. Developer Playtonic Games made the announcement in a new character trailer, showing that players will be able to meet Shovel Knight at some point in the game, although he won’t be playable himself. This is just the latest in a long line of cameos for the retro character, and it seems appropriate; Shovel Knight is a throwback to classic 2D platformers, and Yooka-Laylee is inspired by 3D platformers like Banjo-Kazooie. Yooka-Laylee will launch on consoles and the PC in early 2017.

In a new fifteen minute video, people can watch Yooka and Laylee explore one of Yooka-Laylee’s worlds,

On November 5, 2016, Double Fine and iam8bit’s Day of the Devs 2016 was held in San Francisco, California.

Multiple indie games were in attendance, with Yooka-Laylee among them. GameXplain was able capture fifteen minutes of off-screen footage from Playtonic Games’ platformer, showing the duo interacting with NPCs and collecting Quills.

The Yooka-Laylee Day of the Devs footage begins with Yooka and Laylee grabbing some quills and learning there are 200 of them on each world. They then run into Trowzer the snake.

He teaches them how to roll up inclines to reach new places. From there, they explore some of this initial area, collect some Ghost Writers, five ghosts found in each level that offer a treasure when freed.

They also come across Clara the skeleton and must save her from the Corplets who want to eat her. All sorts of adventures ensue as they continue through the area.

“We can however confirm today that we are working very closely with Nintendo to look to bring Yooka-Laylee to the upcoming Nintendo Switch. We’re thrilled to be able to explore the opportunity and more details will be shared in early 2017. Last week, Playtonic Games announced that they unfortunately had to cancel the Wii U version of their upcoming game, Yooka-Laylee, due to “unforeseen technical issues.” Now the studio has elaborated a little bit on just why it took as long as it did for them to decide to cancel production for the Wii U.

Over on Playtonic’s FAQ for Yooka-Laylee, they explain that their team wanted to “explore every possible avenue” before ultimately deciding to stop development for the Wii U and change their focus onto the Nintendo Switch.

Here’s Playtonic’s full explanation from their FAQ page:
“The Playtonic team wanted to explore every possible avenue before making the very difficult decision to transfer development from the Wii U. Our developers worked tirelessly over many months in attempt to solve our technical issues, but unfortunately it’s not been possible to bring Yooka-Laylee to Wii U as originally planned.”

Yooka-Laylee will release April 11th, 2017 for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A version for the Nintendo Switch is also in the works, though it has no release date as of right now.
