i was trying to compare how does Black Panther compare to Captain America: Winter Soldier.
i am trying to think and use some elements and special interests that made both films very special, but which one has the edge over the other ?... and why ?

here's some things i thought could decide it:

What do you think ? Which one wins your vote ?

Black Panther:

Pluses? :

1) black panther’s armor (weaponry and design- appeal)

2) display of BP speed, strength, agility and fighting skills

3) T’Challa character ( father T’chaka connect/confrontation, accent)

4) Wakanda set design/cinematography/stage /makeup/costume/hairstyle

5) surrounding characters - Nakia, M’Baku, Okoke, Shuri, Klaw, Kilmonger

6) Villains appeal (kilmonger, Klaw, M'Baku)

7) Action sequences (car chase, ritual challenges, casino fights, final battle vs Kilmonger/w’kaki )

8) Pace of film

9) love interest ( T’Challa/Nakia)

10)

Minus?
question about the finale battles – the rhinos, CIA agent Everrett K. Ross really brought little appeal, and questionable CGI effects in the final battles (laser blast projections, force field shields, etc) and pace was a bit slower than Winter Soldier.

Capt America/Winter Soldier:

Plus:

1 action sequences ( fighting choregraphy, shield, car chase, fireshot/explosion, etc)

2 plot/ story write (bucky/hydra)

3 music score

4 surrounding characters ( bucky, nick fury, falcon, widow)

5 great final battle vs Bucky, Hydra/ capt Am vs Winter soldier

6 Rodgers character ( peggy carter, bucky relationship, fury, widow)

7 Villains appeal ( bucky, A. Pierce, Batroc, Brock Rumlow, Dr. Amim Zola)

8) stage sets ( elevator, rescue hostage boat, aircraft fights, Dr. Aim secret tunnel, highway battle vs Hydra,)

9) display of CA speed, strength, agility and fighting skills.

10) sense of humor ( nick fury, falcon, widow)

11) Pace speed and flow of film while still presenting plot, twists was as good as it gets.

12 ) Tense Moments: Nick Fury's " death "

Minus: ?
- None of the usual romance/love Interest story

I've got to take my bias out of it and be honest. I think TWS is better overall film.

TWS is better than TDK imo. It probably my favorite comic book movie hands down.

It just feels like a more complete movie.

Black Panther is a super personal movie to me as a first generation Nigerian. It's less of a film and more of an experience. Hard to explain especially considering it's so fresh. I'll be watching a few more times. I plan on taking my parents to this film which is something I've never done.

Neither are my personal favorite in the MCU, but The Winter Soldier's the better movie of these two. Panther's awesome, and they're both ambitious in their different ways, but TWS is honestly probably a little more accomplished.

That is a plus-Argument imo.
It is Winter Soldier for me. That movie made me a marvel-fan, my memories to that movie are so good and I think it a nearly perfect film. Tight scripts, excellent Humor ballance, the best Action sequences, great character developement, awesome villain and mind-blow with Shield...

I enjoyed Black Panther and it is in my ranking in 6th spot, but Winter Soldier is miles away.

Narratively Black Panther

But as an overall film, The Winter Soldier. The action alone makes it on top of Black Panther.

I have to give it to WS. I've only seen Black Panther once and whilst I really enjoyed it, I've seen WS multiple times and it always holds up.

I love WS, especially the Steve vs Bucky scenes, but I have to give it to BP.

Bond movie/Shakespearean tragedy, amazing world-building, fresh afro-futurist design elements, incredible characters/acting...

It just gives you more for the price of admission.

The Winter Soldier is my favorite MCU movie... but i gotta vote Black Panther for the culture.

Black Panther.

Its a better film overall. TWS has better action and a more impressive showing of its lead, but that's it. The Russo Cap films are slightly overrated.

I agree with this. Plus, T'Challa to me is a more compelling hero than Cap. Add in BP's music score and it's really not close for me. Then again, I've always thought TWS was slightly overrated. The only truly great things about it are the action and TWS himself imo.

This is close, but TWS wins for me. Just barely.

I'll have to see BP again because I just don't remember feeling the music score nearly as enthusiastically as I did with winter soldier. The score for WS was so upfront inspiring and thouroughly, it hit me immediately. I also tend to drawn and awe by things new and very unique and rarely seen in other films.

I've seen impressive car chase scenes in other films but the action scenes like elevator, jet fight scenes in WS was so extraordinary, that even BP's own action scenes couldn't match up to.

TWS had a better story, action etc. It proved you could make a successful, compelling and serious movie about a comic book character. It also futhered a lot of the diversity in the MCU with Sam Jackson, and Anthony Mackie took on strong but supporting roles.

Black Panther was a great movie, with arguably better visuals but a story we've seen before. Sins of the father haunt the son. This movie was more culturally significant though. It proved not only could you do what TWS did with compelling comic characters, but that you can do it regardless of race.

TWS felt more grounded and had much better action and suspense. BP went way overboard with the cgi. Both good but TWS feels more complete/better. Maybe BP2 can compete for the top 3 in the MCU.

What are your top 3 MCU, chase?

I really love CATWS but it's my second favorite. Black Panther IMO had a overall better film with a terrific story and better cast of characters. CATWS had slightly better action scenes but BP had the better villain. GGI is not that important to me unless it was really, really bad. Both BP and CATWS don't have great CGI but to me I don't judge a whole film based on that because of great stories these two had.

I felt CA:WS was better, but this is not a slight to BP.

I was more than a little skeptical of the hype surrounding BP, but walked out of the Thursday showing nodding; my audience cheered and clapped, but the Thursday showings here in the suburb west of Toronto (a big city), the big movies like this are packed and people generally applaud, especially MCU movies.

What struck me about BP was how well acted it was, the dialogue was snappy, the cinematography was quite stunning in vast parts. It had heart, it had some decent action, and it was different from what had come before, while fitting with the rest. It was funny, fun, and serious, in parts and sometimes at the same time if that even makes sense.

Winter Soldier had everything listed, minus the cinematography (it was good, but not as vivid) and humour (it worked when it was needed, but wasn't on the level of BP). To this day what still strikes me about WS (and why it ages well for me) is the balls to the wall, intense action that made me fist pump in some parts. You can go on and on, there are obvious standouts, but even the elevator scene, or Rogers first chasing the Winter Solider... wow. And despite being such a great action film, I felt it also had tremendous heart. Between Rogers trying to save Bucky and just his general sense of betrayal for being duped for so long by Hydra.

Of course, in true MCU fashion, the action bordered on (and embraced) being ridiculous, but it worked for me. It is a CBM after all, and these are larger than life characters that the Russos clearly love and understand. They really solved the riddle of how to portray Rogers, which I felt Whedon really dropped the ball on (and why The Avengers, while being a top 5 MCU film IMO, doesn't age as well, less so than even Age of Ultron, yeah I said it... it has some iconic scenes of course)

For what it's worth, CA:CS was #2. I can't wait for BP 2, I have a strong feeling it can supplant Civil War now that Coogler and the team have their sea legs underneath them.

TWS wins easily, the action alone destroys Black Panther. I’ve seen Winter Soldier more times than I can count and seeing BP for a 3rd time tonight so they’re both great in the end.

action is the only thing I give to WS. BP is an over better film to me though by far and I loved WS.

BP edges it for me.

Wow, this has now thinking if BP can stay in my top 5 marvel films list.
I've always had iron man 3 among my top 5, before BP arrival.

Although tony stark/iron man is still by far the most appealing marvel character in marvel hero films, imo.

Really gonna have to think about this one...

Black Panther. This is the first CBM that manages to emotionally connect with me.
