Darksiders III PS4, Xbox One, & PC

I dont get why they show such early footage in the first place, they are barely done at this stage with the game...it doesnt do much to help them.

I think it looks quite nice at this stage, but there is still a long way to go.
The whip must feel more powerful or at least have some flashy effects on it...because at this stage it looks rather weak compared to what War and Death did in combat.

We will see, im hopeful.

Despite the next-gen spit and polish the game has clearly received (those are some lovely lighting effects, and the incidental scenery gubbins are very detailed), everything from the pace of movement to the enemies remains familiar, even when new elements are introduced, such as Fury's versatile flaming chain-whip doubling as a grappling hook for traversal purposes.
The footage makes it clear that while there may be some superficial design elements shared, Fury is not Bayonetta. She's slower, more calculating, more like a cross between God of War's Kratos and War from the original Darksiders. The majority of her attacks in the video are shown to be sweeping, heavy and high-impact, making it seem like it could be easy to over-commit to an attack if you get greedy.

 One thing Fury does have in common with our favorite Umbran witch is an acrobatic dodge move with what looks to be a generous number of invulnerability frames, allowing you to evade damage altogether if you're bold enough to dodge into oncoming attacks at just the right moment. It's a personal favorite combat mechanic of mine, and one easily adopted from a great many other games.
 As a playable character, Fury does seem to play a middleweight role somewhere in-between Death and War (now there's a sentence and a half). Not quite as combo-happy as her hunchbacked, mopey co-worker, but a little more mobile than her chunky, up-armored predecessor. So long as the campaign structure of the game remains compelling, I can see this one being a solid pick for action-adventure fans next year.

The two previously announced downloadable contents for Darksiders III due out after the game’s release are titled “The Crucible” and “Keepers of the Void,” publisher THQ Nordic and developer Gunfire Games announced.

The Crucible

Fury’s presence has been requested by a strange entity wishing to test her skills in battle. Never one to back down from a challenge, Fury accepts the invitation and gains access to a location known only as the Crucible. Here, Fury will fight wave after wave of enemies, competing for a chance to unlock new rewards and items.

Keepers of the Void

On a quest from Vulgrim, Fury must travel into the Serpent Holes to remove an ancient threat that resides there. The Serpent Holes are riddled with various new puzzles and enemies eager to test Fury’s abilities. If Fury prevails, she will unlock all new weapon from the Hollows, as well as the biggest prize of them all: The Abyssal Armor.

In the Greco-Roman tradition, the Seven Deadly Sins are represented by Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. According to the Darksiders lore, they're not only the classification of vices within Christian teachings, but also pretty nasty, real beasts. The threequel's main protagonist, Fury, has to kill them all to break the terrible curse and free her imprisoned brother, also known as War.

The latest extended Darksiders III gameplay focuses on the battle between Fury and Envy, and it's hard to not notice some similarities to Prince of Persia analyzing the raw gameplay footage. Just like The Dark Prince in The Two Thrones, Fury uses her whip to slay the bird-like creature and swing on hooks to reach flying Envy. Overall, the battle seems like a remastered version of TTT battle with Mahasti.

The Alienware video also gives us a better look at the fallen upper world. Darksiders III is an interquel, which means that it takes place before the main events of Darksiders, but after Death's quest to learn what has triggered the apocalypse in Darksiders II, as you will have a chance to visits desolated human cities before they turned into corrupted daemon hives.
