It depends, but the book almost always has more meat on it. So if I've watched the film adaptation already and liked it enough to take a gander at the source material, I'm almost certain to enjoy the book a good deal more. A prime example for me is The Exorcist. I love both, but I've re-read the book more often than I've re-watched the film.
