Kevin Feige & Joss Whedon seem to be following chronological membership from the comics. Going by what we know which Avengers do you feel have the best chance of getting the big screen treatment?

60's Avengers already in the MCU or confirmed as of today

Iron Man
Thor
Hulk
Captain America
Hawkeye
Antman
Wasp
Scarlet Witch
Quicksilver
The Vision

70's Avengers already in the MCU or confirmed as of today

Black Widow
Falcon

80's Avengers already in the MCU or confirmed as of today

War Machine/Iron Patriot

Now who's left

60's

Swordsman
Hercules
Black Panther
Black Knight

70's

Mantis
Moondragon
Hellcat
2 Gun Kid
Ms. Marvel

80's

Wonder Man
Tigra
She-Hulk
Monica Rambeau
Starfox
Dr. Druid
Mockingbird
Moon Knight
Firebird

From this list I feel the locks are

Mockingbird (Explains how Hawkeye spends his free time).. Ms. Marvel.. Black Panther

Who should get a chance

She-Hulk.. Tigra.. Monica Rambeau..Hercules

Ms. Marvel and Black Panther are likely as is Dr. Strange. I could see Moon Knight and She Hulk with the Defenders and Mockingbird on Agents of SHIELD. The rest I'm not sure about.

I don't want to see Dr. Strange on an Avengers team - every movie Marvel makes does not have to build to an Avengers film and certainly non-Avenger type characters like Strange or DD have no business on the team. Neither does Spider-Man or Wolverine - should Marvel ever get those guys back...

Strange will be in Avengers 3. Besides there are rumors that whoever they get to play Strange will take RDJ's mantle in the MCU when RDJ is done as Tony Stark.

That's a tall order. Better get a great actor cause otherwise it's not gonna happen.

RDJ was a huge risk and Marvel actually did him a favor with the casting. Doctor Strange is perfect for leading the New Avengers. He has a place to house them and he has the strongest power level of any one in the MCU. This man can defeat the Hulk by himself.

Black Panther, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight (for the Defenders) are the only ones I feel are truly good, legitimate options. I think most of the rest would be overly cheesy for the MCU.

Just my opinion.

I think She Hulk would be a good option for the Defenders, but of course only as Jennifer Walters.

Jennifer Walters, yes. But when I see She Hulk, all I can do is laugh and think of Chyna doing that porno she did as She Hulk.

Monica Rambeau would be interesting to see in the MCU, but I don't think we'll ever see her in the MCU.

I definitely want to see Carol, She-Hulk, Tigra and Monica. The Avengers need more women.

Give me Black Panther. I want to see the entire 60s team (minus the redundant Hercules, and less well regarded Black Knight and Swordsman) together on the big screen during the Downey/ Evans/ Hemsworth era. Basically, their only shot at that is A3.

Hercules could make a great Thor villian along with Ares. But not sure how the General Audience would receive them

I don't think we can look to the comics at all as a bellwether for any future movie Avengers. The simple fact of the matter is that *any* superhero who emerges on the big screen or small in the MCU will be called on --- by fictional fans in-universe and real-world fans in the audience --- to join Marvel's all-star team. We already see that not only with the clamor to get sidekicks like War Machine and Falcon onto the team (and let's face it: there's a canonical legitimacy for Rhodey and Sam to take their rightful places onboard), but even non-studio characters like Spidey and Wolverine. As the Netflix "Marvel Knights" emerge, we'll see even more of that --- people asking "hey, how come Daredevil/ Cage/ Iron Fist/ Jewel aren't recruited to join the Avengers?"

Gonna be a tougher question to answer as the MCU continues to evolve.

I honestly think those Defender's will become the New Avengers (replacing Spider-Man for Daredevil but DD was in NA #1 anyways) under Doctor Strange leadership

New Avengers

Doctor Strange (Leader)
Iron Fist ($)
Luke Cage
Jessica Jones (More involved Pepper Potts)
Ms. Marvel
War Machine or Falcon
The Winter Solider (As Cap at first)
Daredevil (Will he/Wont he join role)

Maybe a mystery character like Ronin in a who is he/she role

Not seeing it, not the least because it would radically violate their whole premise for existing. If the Defenders cease to be a street level hero team, than they cease to be anything but "Avengers Lite". Doubly so for Dr Strange having no reason to be involved with the team whatsoever, as he deals with stuff that has no relation to any of the actual members.

Seriously, why do people insist on wanting to warp the Defenders into something its patently not?

Because in 2020 we'll need new Avengers. I dont think Marvel will recast Thor/Iron Man/Cap/Widow in this current era. Just because a character fights on the street level doesnt mean they can be an Avenger (BW & Hawkeye). Luke Cage/Iron Fist are Avengers. And I want Power Man on film. They wont stay on Netflix forever

Doctor Strange will definitely be an Avenger. Part Time or Full Time he'll have some association with the team. He's going to shake up the MCU and what they thought about reality. He shares multiple rogues with these characters. And he's a part of The Infinity Gaunlet so he'll be in Avengers 3. After that experience I doubt he'll just say okay guys I want no more affiliations with you guys. People will want to see him in A4.

Marvel isn't going to replace the Avengers with a team of street levelers ( and Dr Strange ). While they are certainly going to shift around membership, its not going to be with the Defenders ( who don't even have anything to do with Dr Strange anyway ).

The Defenders dont have anything to do with The Defender's. None of those characters are even Defenders.

Doctor Strange is THE leader of The Defender's.

I can definitely see this happening after A3. But Black Panther may need to be thrown in there.

Yes, and? None of that has anything to do with the Defenders TV shows that will actually be happening.

I think it's just a matter of time for:

Black Panther
Ms. Marvel
Mockingbird (connection to Hawkeye/connection to SHIELD/adds another female for diversity/won't need a lot of special effects)

I give a decent chance for:

Wonder Man
Moon Knight (although, I see Moon Knight moreso as a character for a Netflix series)
Monica Rambeau (probably wishful thinking on my part, but I could actually see her appearing in a Black Panther film, perhaps as a replacement for/combination of Storm and Monica Lynne)

Maybe Hercules, but with two films featuring the character in recent memory, Marvel may not be in any rush to add their version to the mix.

I doubt we'll ever see it, but I'd like to see Firebird. A Latina superheroine would definitely add diversity.

What is the history between Monica Rambeau and T'Challa?

Also, Firebird would be better than Silverclaw, although I would not mind White Tiger, Ava Ayala.
