Justice League Justice League: News and Speculation - Part 7

To be fair to Campbell he did have a bunch of studio execs over his shoulder giving him terrible input. I don't think he had a 100% creative control which lead to a lack of clear vision for the movie which is what Reynolds and Geoff Johns have implied was going on behind the scenes.

I don't think everyone was on the same page with Green Lantern

If you watch some behind the scenes of GL, you can see that Campbell is totally out of his wheelhouse with the green screen, motion capture directing.

It's a shame, because WB probably thought they struck gold by getting Campbell, given how much people loved Casino Royale.

Biggest problem was the tonal direction (scenes that were supposed to 'fun' had zero impact) and especially the score. It felt like generic 90's tv-b-movie music. I don't blame them too much though. GL is a tough thing to find a tonal direction for.

There's so much potential with GL (a guy who can make things from his mind), that went untapped (and I still see untapped in the comics). The constructs he makes should be extremely important, reflective of his character, etc, not just random fun things (many of which are extremely lame) for action scenes. They could inject a little dose of Dr. Manhatten in Green Lantern. (Hal reconstructing Coast City is a great example of this)

DNNO SAYS: That's your opinion, but it doesn't meant that it's factual. It the film industry, success is tied to box office numbers as much as it is to quality and the Nolan/Goyer/Bale team is associated with both. It is foolish to even think that having them together again for a CBM would not equate to a good thing looking at their track record regardless of what people may think will happen to their past work. TDKT is done, just like Batman 89' is and Donner's Superman films, and nothing that happens today going forward is going to change what is already immortalized on film. Let's not sacrifice progress in the name of preserving something that already is.

^^^^^
Agreed with everything you said here DNNO.

Jett, Sean, Mark and whoever else who has a selfish single and close minded view when it comes to TDKT and MOS films not be in the same universe as a potential Worlds Finest and or Justice League film.

Especially when they feel Nolan and the team he has worked with, Goyer, Jonah and Snyder should not be involved when it comes to developing/producing a WF/JL or DC film?

That team of filmmaking talent is WB's "Justice League" if you will.

Yep. You hit on all points on what went wrong with GL. It sure wasn't Reynolds fault.

When was Robinov shown the door as CEO? Has this been in the works for some time now? Seems the minute WB ran out of tentpole material and had a couple of flops on hand, Jeff was out and a new guy steps in. Talk about a cutthroat business. Sometimes I get that impression at my own job.

Wasn't Robinov bringing WB down, though? I say it's for the best.

Not having Nolan produce, Goyer and maybe Jonah write and Snyder direct a Worlds Finest Superman/Batman team up film with Bale and Cavill in the lead roles and JGL's Nightwing as a supporting character which will lead into a potential Justice League film would be a complete WASTED OPPORTUNITY and be utter disappointing IMO!

It would be sad really.

Yup.

The Internal politics were responsible for WB's lack of clear approach on how to proceed with DC properties, with multiple groups trying to steer the boat.

At least now with new CEO, we can expect a cohesive approach to DC movies.

I think so too, sadly I don't see it happening because they're hell bent on Justice League, and I bet they want the first meeting of Batman and Superman to have its impact in that Justice League movie.

I can care less if Robinov is gone. It's probably for good reason.

If they could sign Bale for two films, I don't see why they wouldn't want to milk two films out of it.

They could make a ***** ton of money on Bruce/Clark meeting alone. (would the addition of other members make the box office number go that much higher?)

THey could also make a ton again from all the members coming together, with solo movie leadups after WF.

Just 2 films from Bale and their golden.

Yep, and the new CEO is an ex-DC comics publisher. There's a connection there.

Heck yeah. World's Finest or "Batman - Superman" or whatever the hell they would call it. As long as it's not Batman vs Superman lol.

That as a sequel to MOS and TDKR simultaneously, and serving as an intro to other characters, is genius. My question is, do you go right into JL?? while launching the solos later? Or do you do the solo films in between WF and JL. This is what may keep WB from pursuing a World's Finest first. Because it may be too long of a wait to get to a Justice League.

Man of Tomorrow (World's Finest) in 2015 because they can; they can capitalize on Bale/Cavill (and because their dynamic deserves its own movie). After credits hint at the arrival of more superhumans.

I think World's Finest will satisfy people in the short run. Bats/Supes meeting could be hugeeeeee. As huge as can be. The inclusion of other heroes (who don't have their own solo movies) might only bump the box office numbers marginally; best to leave it for another movie to capitilze on another build-up/team-up.

2016 WW produced by Nolan
2016/7 Flash produced by Nolan
2017 Green Lantern produced by Nolan

Then 2018 Justice League, where people are excited to see the GL, Flash, and WW characters they know come together.

I've seen the argument that having JL first before solos will help boost the numbers for solo movies. However, if these movies are produced by Nolan, I don't think they need help (Remember how big Inception was? A new IP?). Rather, I think the JL movie would need help by having solo movies prior to raise hype (since they can't ride on Supes/Bats meeting, which was already done in WF)

If its WF its got to be either Lex/Brainiac against Supes/Bats or Lex/Joker against Supes/Bats.

Well technically, they can still title the Batman/Superman team up film as JUSTICE LEAGUE if they want to.

It would be the first Justice League film of a potential trilogy where Superman and Batman meet and start the team up while battling Lex and Braniac most likely.

That's a plus for Nolan and Bale coming back right tell me I'm close.

I don't know if it connects with Nolan and Bale returning, but it's definitely a plus that he knows the world of DC and how it works. Having a CEO who knows the source material is better than someone who didn't give a s**t like Robinov.

Definitely Lex I think. Bruce, having seen the news, doesn't want Blake to leave Gotham for an extended period of time and decides to suit-up (for disguise purposes, not to fight Superman, obviosuly) to work with a man named Lex Luthor to find a 'solution' to control the Superman, researching Kryptonite (infiltrating gov't facilties, using his badass stealth abilities/gadgets, not his body). Later he discovers that Lex has more 'extreme' intensions (to kill Superman. Something Bruce can't agree with, obviously).

Would they actually title a Batman/Superman movie Justice League? Not so sure. Fans would be annoyed but it would still sell regardless. Maybe it would work if they actually introduce the other 3 in the last act of the movie. Physically showing them.

Definitely Lex I think. I think Bruce/Bats should be working with a man named Lex Luthor at first to find a 'solution' to control the Superman, researching Kryptonite, etc, before realizing that Lex has more 'extreme' intensions (to kill Superman. Something Bruce can't agree with, obviously).
Yeah that's great.
