It would be a nice middle finger if they brought Crawford back and teamed him up with Sean and then the show lasted for years.
So it appears his quitting caught Fox and WB off-guard and now they're trying to see if he's for real and what they can do to keep him on. He's supposedly got a six-year contract but he'll likely be let go early since most studios don't like having unhappy actors. While the ratings were decent for the premiere, I think this news will likely push this show towards cancellation.
Behind Damon Wayans’ Surprise ‘Lethal Weapon’ Announcement; Is He Really Leaving & Can Show Survive Second Exit?
Yep this is a scummy move be Wayans. He could of said he didn't want to come back before and let the writers exit his character but keep Crawfords. Heck they could of even brought in one of Wayans brothers to play Roger's detective brother on the show to replace him.He sounds petty and vindictive now to quit after getting Crawford fired.
I doubt Crawford wants to come back after being publicly humiliated and thrown under the bus. They fired most of the cast and crew that supported Crawford as well. There would probably be tons of resentment and bad blood around if the fired people came back.

They may as well just cancel the show without Riggs and Murtaugh.
Sucks for the actors that played Murtaugh's family because he is putting them out of work as well. Especially bad if it is true he blindsided the cast and crew by not telling them first.
They could spin this into a female Lethal Weapon and make it work. It might end up for the better.
It was a homage rather than a rip off to the scene from the Punisher comic/movie. Cole's character even brings it up that he read comics in the scene. So in the 2nd episode they're ripping off the Thomas Jane Punisher. Cole is torturing someone with a popsicle in exactly the same way.
