Though AVENGERS continues to dominate the global box office, Marvel is not slowing down on preperations for its future endeavors as Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to star as the villain in THOR 2, Variety's Marc Graser and Justin Kroll report.

It is unknown at this time what part he will play, but what is known is that Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the original, will still have a big part as an antagonist. Most of the cast from the original, including star Chris Hemsworth, are returning, with Alan Taylor on as the pics director. Don Payne, who co-wrote THOR, penned the original draft with Robert Rodat doing the most recent polish.

Marvel has skedded THOR 2 for Nov. 15, 2013, with production expected to start later this summer.

Mikkelsen is one of my favorite actors, so I hope he joins the movie. I wonder which villain role he is consider as.

He has gone a long way from the Pusher movies!

I've only seen Mikkelson in Casino Royale but I thought he was great. Nice to see Hiddleston will be back aswell.

I guess we can rule out The Enchantress appearing here. That said, Mikkelson is a terrific addition to the cast.

Malekith is a possibility....but I'd also consider a strong likelihood of Desak. Especially if MCU's Phase II proves to be aimed at the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe.

What makes you say that? They could easily place The Enchantress in the movie still.

You should see FLAME AND CITRON where he is an assassin in the Danish underground killing Nazi collaborators during WWII.

Loki/Enchantress/Malekith as the trio of villains would make for a great film

The name definitely rings a bell. Sound good though, I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for that one.

Yeah, Mikkelsen would seem appropriate for Malekith. There's also The Grey Gargoyle, though.

He was definitely one of the very FEW GOOD things about "Clash of the Titans" as well; and his appearance there definitely helps better visualizing him for me in a villainous role for Thor.

I *would* probably rule out terrestrial (earthly) villains, though. We vaguely know the plot will center around cosmic travels, so think cosmic and/or Asgardian villains.

Mads is awesome. Malekith?

That's what I thought. He always screamed Klaw to me for BP, though IF it is malekith, I think it will be pretty awesome.

And if you take IM3 as any indication with the way their casting has gone and that it could be the same for the other movies, maybe it's not too inconceivable that we get (possibly) some amora/exec. action as well.

Sort of in the vein of the EMH episode that had amora/exec/malekith with a different/more sinister endgame

I'm thinking Malekith. Weird, I was watching Hellboy 2 earlier today and thinking that Luke Goss would make an excellent Malekith, but I'm sure that Mads can do the job if that's the role.

And if Enchantress is in the movie then I hope Skurge is in too.

I'm still hoping for Mads as the Executioner. A villain in the same physical class as Thor. I wouldn't cry if it was Malekith though, especially if they included Algrim/Kurse.

Mads for the Executioner?

Viva Bianca for Enchantress! (Sparticus) She looks just like her, and the roles are similar.
