Known for its blistering speed, iconic music, and pure multiplayer mayhem, WipEout has appeared on every PlayStation format since 1995 — and it’s now set to rip through the air on PS4 and PS4 Pro.

The WipEout Omega Collection brings together all of the anti-gravity racing track and ship content from WipEout HD, Fury, and 2048. All three are remastered and they look stunning in dynamic 4K and HDR, running at a targeted 60 frames per second.

There are nine modes available in total:

• Zone, Tournament, Speed Lap, Time Trial, and Single Race from HD
• Zone Battle, Eliminator, and Detonator from Fury
• Career Mode from 2048

This spans more than 26 unique tracks and 46 unique ship models, which sees the return of all of your favorite ship manufactures. Play with your friends, either with split-screen local multiplayer, or online with up to eight Anti-gravity Racing league pilots.

With graphics that have been enhanced to take advantage of 4K displays, WipEout has never looked so good — but we haven’t just focused on visuals. We’ll have an all-new, thumping soundtrack for you to race with, featuring a few classics as well as tracks from the hottest up-and-coming artists. WipEout Omega Collection is a feast for both your eyes and ears.

A brand new team and ship.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed the “Tigron K-VSR,” a brand new additional team and vehicle making its debut in WipEout Omega Collection.




Here are a few details about the ship, via the PlayStation Blog:

“The design philosophy of the Tigron K-VSR is ‘sheer brute force’. It eschews advanced tech and handling in favour of high speed and pure aggression.
“The shape and layout of the craft consists of a central chassis and cockpit with two longer outer arms that have two design functions. They allow for aggressive ramming and shunting while keeping the central chassis and pilot safe from collisions. This design feature makes the ship very heavy, hindering its acceleration and handling but does work in its favour when it reaches higher speeds, turning it into a juggernaut.
“Due to the size and weight of the craft, it needs a very large engine to push the ship to the desired speed. Having a pulse ram jet of this size proved to be highly unstable, so the design team got around this by using one large turbo pump that that feeds the thrust into four smaller chambers, allowing for a safer distribution of force and also giving it its distinctive ‘cluster thruster’ design.”

Due out for PlayStation 4 on June 6 in North America and June 7 in Europe, WipEout Omega Collection brings together all the content from WipEout HD, WipEout HD Fury and WipEout 2048, and enhances it for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. All of the games’ textures have been reworked, and are now clear to the point that you can even read some of the small text on the ships when viewed up close. In addition to improved graphical effects, the game also supports HDR. The game also adds 28 licensed music tracks from famous musical artists including Swedish House Mafia, Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy. Read more about the game here.

Experience the high-octane speed of WipEout in virtual reality.

Sony Interactive Entertainment will release a PlayStation VR update for WipEout Omega Collection in early 2018, the company announced.
The update will enable users to race every track, across every game mode offline or online, with the PlayStation VR headset.




Additionally, three new ships have been created featuring a special cockpit view for PlayStation VR that include head tracking, enabling users to check out the interiors of the new ships, as well as the racecourses themselves. 3D audio is also supported.




New ships that are exclusive to PlayStation VR pilots have also been created, and the update will include a new remix of the song “Shake It” from Vieille Griffe.


WipEout Omega Collection is available now for PlayStation 4.

The update will enable users to race every track, across every game mode offline or online, with the PlayStation VR headset.
