The purpose of this thread is to discuss what your top 10 games are, broken down by generation.

I started playing games heavily in the 5th gen, so that's where I'll start

10. gran turismo 2
9. silent hill - never played it but i respect it
8. resident evil - never played it but i respect it
7. crash team racing
6. Spyro the Dragon - thoroughly enjoyed this more than crash
5. Metal Gear Solid - never played it but I respect it
4. zelda ocarina of time - never played it but I respect it
3. Tekken 3 - best fighting game ever period, and one of the greatest games ever made period.
2. Final Fantasy VII - never played it, but this game's got a huge legacy, so I gotta put it ahead of Tekken.
1. Super Mario 64 - one of the greatest games of all time.

the best game of the 5th generation.

6th gen
10. Gran Turismo 3
9. Final Fantasy X - never played it but I respect it
8. Metal Gear Solid 3 - never played it but I respect it
7. Half-Life 2 - never played it but I respect it
6. Metroid Prime - never played it but I respect it
5. God of War 2 - never played it but I respect it
4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (san andreas was too much, too over the top)
3. Soulcalibur 2 - the first may arguably be better, but this was more memorable for exclusive characters
2. Super Smash Bros Melee - although all the games are good, this has to be a fan favorite since everyone wants to stick with the gamecube controller to continue playing the game
1. Halo 2 - never got into it but can't deny its legacy

7th gen
10. Modern Warfare 2
9. Skyrim - never played it, but it definitely belongs much higher on the list.
8. Bioshock 2 - never played it but I respect it
7. Uncharted 2
6. Mass Effect 2
5. GTA4 - coz I think GTA4>GTA5
4. Halo 4 - one of the Halos definitely belong on this list...
3. Metal Gear Solid 4 - never got into it but it's considered one of the best, ever.
2. LittleBigPlanet 2 - the quintessential couch, social gathering, and even multiplayer game. Super cute too.
1. The Last of Us - never got into it, but can't deny the fact that it is considered one of the greatest games ever.

wat are your lists? start from whichever generation you were playing

also I'd say 6 and 7 are interchangeable on the 7th gen list

What is even the point?

yeah can't say i didn't see this coming. just coz i didn't play a game doesn't mean i can't acknowledge it as one of the best

Sure, but the title of thread isn't, "What do you think are objectively the top ten games per generation?", it's, "What are YOUR top ten games per generation?".

You can obviously put whatever you want on your list, it just seems pretty strange to include a bunch of games you've never played on a personal list like this.

Those were the majority of my gaming gens. I didn't name a single PC or handheld game because... wouldnt PC technically be considered the longest running generation of gaming? It should pretty much get a category all its own. And I've played a solid amount of 7th gen games but the consoles/PC/handheld i played them on tend to blur and don't count in my opinion. The world of gaming has definitely evolved.

And if a single person puts an iOS game on here they deserve to be banned.

OP, I'm very confused by your list.

A. Do you play video games?

and if A, then B. Have you ever considered playing some of those good video games?

Yeah, it's pretty weird to start the thread off like that. And what do you mean the 6th and 7th generation games are interchangeable, like huh

Whatever.
Ok I'm sorry.

Ok I'm sorry! But just keep the discussion going, nevermind my OP

and wat I meant was on the 7th gen list, numbers 7 and 6 are interchangeable

I'm not quite sure where Dreamcast fits in all of this. Sega already had the Saturn during the first wave of 3D consoles, so it doesn't fit in that era, yet the Dreamcast came out as the N64 and Playstation were on the way out.. and it died before the XBox and GameCube.. I guess I'm going to include it in the Ps2/GameCube/XBox era..

Yo man, I didn't mean to offend. I just find it odd. I get the point though. The title is not "top 10 games you've completed" or even "top 10 games you've played." Hell, even I haven't beaten Kid Icarus for NES. Or for that matter Super C without cheating (has anyone?).

I guess the point I was trying to make was "why haven't you played them?" But if you don't have the resources, I don't accept that response! ;)

I postulate that a person with enough tenacity can play any game made in the 20th century for free with the magic of the internet. Even if your PC is podunk ghetto, (or a laptop) I'd say any game before 1995 (which is still a metric crapton).

Emulators work extremely well for any game released on a cartridge. In laymens terms, that's: NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, Neo Geo Pocket, GB, GBC, GBA. For many others there's great deals on Steam (Final Fantasy games as well as many platformers and shooters). And depending where your morals stand, there's always online piracy for anything newer.

I suppose it is possible for me, but emulators from the internet aren't a completeley legitimate way to play them, are they?

besides, if those are the lengths I gotta go to play the oldies, I'd rather still put em off until I really got time for that. For now, I'll continue playing my new and most recent console games. But thank you for understanding.
