Transformers The Megatron Appreciation Thread

Exactly, and i hope he stays just the same for the sequel.

Plus I think Weavings voice fit this version of the character so much better than Welker's voice could have. Welkers voice would have a bit too weak sounding for me, but Weaving's felt like it just oozed power and evil.

I think Welker's voice could've had the same effect once it was given the boost that Weaving's voice was given.

Here's a video I found on YouTube that I think it gives one a good idea as to what a deeper version of Welker's Megatron would sound like. Granted, it an impression, but it is a pretty good one.

Not really any problems I have with Megatron but I do wish they would have had him call Starscream a fool at some point like the cartoon. I remember Megs always calling Starscream a fool in the series a lot of the time. Thought it would have been cool if he said that to him right before or after he yells at him to "Get Them!" at the dam.

..i do however hope he has a fusion cannon like weapon in the sequel.

Cant view video's in work so i'll check that out later.

I thought the cannon he had in the movie seemed more than proficient.

I was thinking, if no one ever said that that was Megatron in the movie, do you think anyone would have thought that's who it was?

It doesnt sound that bad to be fair, but they mightnt have altered like that.

I think you're probably right. I think that had Welker been cast, his voice would've gone through just as much sound processing as Weaving's did. And in the end, I don't think he would've really sounded the same as he did in the cartoon.

I could've accepted that.

I'm watching the movie right now for the first time & I really like the way Megatron looked & how he was evil. Very badass.

I still prefer Weaving though to be honest, his voice is one of the best in Hollywood right now, topped only by Ian McKellan and James Earl Jones.

I think Megatron is frigging amazing in this movie, and he does a good job of making us hate him, especially when he kills Jazz, i always shout 'You evil bastard!' at the screen when he does :yay: .

I agree that he does have a good voice. I know that I'm beating a dead horse, but the issue for me has always been that I feel that there wasn't any reason not to cast Welker since I don't agree with the arguments that his voice either doesn't fit or hasn't aged well.

Nah, I don't shout at him but I do hate that he killed Jazz, who was pretty damn funny. Megatron seemed a bit scary, definitely not the type of guy you want to run into in real life.

I guess its just personal taste, IMo Weaving was superb and delivered his lines perfectly.

Jazz was possibly my favourite Autobot in the movie, so thats why i hate that part, but on the whole Megatron was brilliant.

My favorite Autobot would have to be between Bumblebee, Ironhide, & Jazz. Ironhide was funny because he was obsessed with eliminating someone & Jazz had the best introduction of every robot in the movie.

Jazz not only had the best introduction, but he also had the bravest and possibly most heroic scene in the movie.

But i think its fair to say Megatron was the best decepticon.

Yes, Megatron was the best Decepticon but I wish we could've seen more of him as well as the other Decepticons such as Barricade.

^I think the sequel is likely to rectify all of those problems, IMO its hard for the first movie to have too much of the robots in because we need to get to know the human characters first so we can relate to them.

But Megatron will be returning in a sequel, that i am sure of so we will see more of him then. Obviously budget was a factor for the first movie, hopefully it wont be in a sequel.

It shouldn't be since the movie garnished a lot of money from the box office & from DVD sales.

^Exactly, its not to hard to imagine them increasing the budget for the sequel to $200-250 million.

Hell, it'll probably be higher than that, considering that the sequel is supposed to focus more on the Autobots than the humans.

As for Megatron returning in the sequel, if he does, I think he should be modified a great deal & should be even more durable. In fact, I think all of the robots in the movie should be more durable so that they are able to survive being shot with weapons from the military.

^Possibly, but with Bay, i doubt it, he always loves to have the humans play their part in any battle, and i think that will be the case in the sequel.

In my personal opinion, Megatron shouldnt be upgraded just yet.

Well, it's not bad to have humans play a big part in movies, but the TF will probably be a little more involved than before.

Megatron should get an upgrade in the second movie & be killed for good in the second movie. We should see Barricade take up for Megatron as the leader in the third movie. As much as I like Megatron, he probably shouldn't be in all three movies.

^Barricade just isnt fit to lead the Decepticons so i cant see him taking over, if anyone takes over them it will be Starscream.

As for Megatron, he is the main antagonist of the TF universe, so i cant see them ever getting rid of him completely.
