SFX: Zach Snyder talks Superman movie

what are you talking about?!! We know...

Clark spends most of the movie traveling through africa watching warfare from a distance, thinking about whether or not he should become superman and help people.

Lindsay lohan is play ursa, who will be the main villain.

Lois lane won't be in it.

Alice eve is playing cat grant, who will be the main love interest.

Zod will appear.

Clark never dons the superman costume in the movie. :d

not agree is not a smallville movie!

At the time (1938) Superman was physical andfighting corrupt politiciens and crooke landlords, he was rough, maybe in a modern context (not so different in 30 years) He may be fighting terrorism!!! In a world where gouvernement knows all about you, etc.

One thing that I personally think would be kind of cool to see is a pissed off Superman. I like the calm, collected, unwaveringly good Superman. However I always find it excited when Superman is pushed so far to the point where his eyes turn red and he goes into epic mode. I can just imagine Cavill(In Costume) on his knees holding and looking down at a dead loved one, obviously sad and emotional. Cavill then lifts his head and looks up at whomever with glowing red eyes super pissed and uncontrollably darts at him at a buggillion miles an hour busting through walls. It would be like the DC Universe Online Trailer.

I have to say that what you have described conjure's up some awesome imagery. If his eyes turn red with uncontrolable rage it should be the entire eye though, not just the pupils, that way you immediately realize it's not regular heat vision but ... "Uh Oh! He's Super pissed!"

I would be interested if Goyer actually took what Singer and his team wrote for Superman Returns 2. I say that only because it has the elements and characters that we're looking for, and it does make you question Superman's role on Earth and his alligence to his people..

Ummm.....no thanks.

I don't want to see anything from what Dougherty and Singer had in mind for their Returns sequel.

I want to see what the Nolan brothers, Goyer and Snyder have in mind.

I know what you're saying.

Actually, I don't know if it was real or not. All it was, really, was a treatment. And from the sounds of it (if it's real) it sounded a little desperate. Like backtracking their original vision of THEIR Superman.

^^Do you have a link to that? I never read it. I tried to access IESB but it was down or something, probably because of the Sanchez dealio.

I think we have to look at as what if tomorrow we woke up to a story of a flying man that saved a plane from crashing. How would we react to that? I think we'd all be like WTF is going on here? We'd be skeptical, and he would have to prove that he's not a threat to our world. In the Donner films they accepted him pretty quickly. I think some fear here would be appropriate and then maybe he's accepted in the climax when he takes care of a real threat. I do like the Birthright storyline for this reason.

This is actually very interesting. Because, if I recall correctly, Singer mentioned something similar when he was working on SR.

One of his early comments ( and this was before the costume reveal ) was something along the lines of......."How would people react to a man flying around in Primary Colors......."

Of course, the end result of SR didn't really touch upon that.

So, it would be nice if this aspect was explored in the new movie.

"But I can say I think Superman needs to be physical"

Here you go:

Regarding Sanchez, it's almost taboo to even mention him within the 'online journalist' community. I have no idea where he's at but the last time anyone has seen him publicly was at a Tron Legacy screening. I think Frosty from Collider.com tweeted that Robert was acting like nothing has happened. Regardless, Sanchez is finished. (I've met him and he was a mean-spirited dude)

Wow, never knew that the info on Singer's Man of Steel script was leaked. There are actually a lot of cool ideas there and it's a shame that Singer didn't just roll with something like that for his first Superman film instead of just a lame rehash of Superman '78. Oh, well. I guess in the end, I'm glad he didn't make a better movie, because even then it probably wouldn't be as good as what I think we'll be getting with Snyder and Cavill (a director better suited to Superman and a better lead actor).

Reading it I saw potential but that's about it... It sounds like a movie that would have been more about secondary character than Superman... Again. I am also glad that Singer is off this project. But I am glad he did it in the first place bc now they know what NOT to do. Plus he's just weird lol.

That is true... it does sound like it would be more about the Brainiac character than Superman. It also sounds like Lois would have been non-existent (though maybe since Bosworth would have been playing her, that's not a bad thing).

But yeah, it certainly has its weak spots. I don't know why Singer was so obsessed with turning Superman into Jesus (or into God the Father in the Man of Steel Script). I also don't tend to like the idea of wars being presented in a Superman film (and I hope that they don't delve too much into this in this new Superman movie). Because it just creates an awkward scenario. Superman shouldn't be involved because he's "not to interfere with human history" or whatever, but wars are a gray area. Regardless of who is right or wrong, Superman isn't the type who would just observe from afar while people are killing each other off. I've always interpreted Jor-El's "no interference" policy to mean that Supes shouldn't use his powers to take over the humans, and he shouldn't alter time, like he does in Superman '78.

But in the same sense, having Superman get involved in a war almost feels cheap because it's such a serious and tragic thing and in the real world, such easy solutions do not exist.

I never liked the idea of Superman being Jesus when the creators were Jewish, weren't they?

There are certain parallels whether the creators did it on purpose or not. It's unceniable. You can skip making them too evident if you want but the similarities are too many to ignore.

Those are interesting ideas. I wouldn't have minded seeing that. I don't completely like the idea of Jason being another Superman like, but hey, they kill him off, which isn't a bad thing.

Yeah, the war thing I'm not so sure about. But everything else sounded good.

That sounds like it could've been one hell of a movie. The whole "I must kill my son" reads awkward but it probably would've turned out fine...I always thought Superman should fight a grown up Jason in an SR sequel. Oh well. I'll be content with seeing the Return To Krypton sequence one day, hopefully.

Have you read Superman Earth One? In an interview it gives a outstanding explanation of why Superman does what he does and why he cannot do what he could... (trying to say it without spoiling it). It addresses everything you just wrote. Check it out.
