X-Men (if Marvel had the rights)

Considering Marvel will probably get X-Men before Spider-Man, then when they get that character, him being disliked by the public will also make sence, since by that point they're less trustworthy of super powered individuals and may even confuse him for a mutant.

Why, exactly, do people *want* the MCU to suddenly turn hateful and ungrateful? Part of what makes the MCU so great is that the general public *deserves* to be saved.

Well it's more of a metaphor for the real world. When people stop acting like bigots the public will be portrayed in a more positive way.

I don't think the public is portrayed nicer in the MCU than other universes anyway

They most definitely have been portrayed better than in the X-Men movies. Which, themselves, generally have less anti-mutant bigotry than the comics.

Would love to see a movie featuring the original teenage 5, no more Wolverine fests please.

It would be logical for people to hate mutants and not regular heroes in the MCU, with Magneto declaring war on Homo sapiens, it would instantly be human vs mutant.
There are plenty of people who hate muslims in general since 9/11, even though only a handful were responsible for that monstrosity

So you are saying Magneto should be behaving in a way that is instigating the prejudice? Ignoring any sort of political reading of Middle East relations, what you are suggesting is that Magneto should cause mutants to be hated? It kind of weakens him as a character and turns him into a mustache twirling villain.

Besides, people would not differentiate if you were born with it or it came from a science experiment.

I think part of a good Magneto characterization is that he's given up on peaceful relations as impossible, and for good reason. Once that's believed, a strong hand is better than any politicking.

I think people would differentiate between hormone-addled teenagers with powers who act out violently from trained soldiers/scientists with powers that are part of an official organization that as saved the world. It's the difference between Colubmine/Sandy Hook and the US Military. All you need is one major mutant-caused tragedy to sell it, and mutants would be considered 'different in a bad way,' like Muslims, regardless of any similarities. Add to that a Magneto who seems to evidence that for mutants this isn't a 'phase' and you have full blown believable hysteria.

My take would be to make everybody relatively younger. Yes, including Wolverine.

And yet we have morons on Fox News seemingly everyday saying that Muslims should not be allowed in the military. They do not differentiate the vast majority from the actions of a few extremists.

Look at the Civil War story Millar did at Marvel. While a weak piece of writing the concept is sound. If these guys start getting innocent people hurt, public opinion will not care how or why they have those powers, they will want it controlled and maintained.

I agree with you, but at the same time, if we look at modern society, there is a large segment that goes the opposite of Fox news. If Fox News were the champions of anti-mutantcy, then liberal media (social media included) would be staunchly pro-mutant. Is there any issue where all of society is just agreed upon: no? Zero Tolerance? I can't think of one. Pedophiles, maybe.

much better than the dreaded Ryan Reynolds casting as Deadpool.

Dreaded casting? Reynolds is perfect as Wilson, and was the #1 fan choice for awhile. It's Fox's creative decision that was the issue. Even after that mess people still want him to return. That says alot. Reynolds hasn't even been able to say a word as Deadpool yet. Barakapool wasn't his doing in the slightest.

Also, if Fox ever stops being scared and makes that amazing Rheet Reese Deadpool script you'll have Reynolds to thank for that.

what makes him perfect for the role? because of his past role as wilson in wolverine origins?
as for no. 1 fan choice, did green lantern film change those fan views since?

Tons of his previous roles. Pre Barakapool he did fine in Origins with what he was given. That was never the reason people wanted him to play Deadpool though. Un censored he can easily play the fast talking smart ass like he did as Hanibal King (which him and Goyer pretty much based more around Deadpool and that started all the talk about him in the role later) and his countless other comedies as well as the more Dramatic. Which is needed for the role. He has a solid resume of roles despite the blockbuster bombs.

Sure but, not that much. Which again says alot, cause both Lantern and Origins were horrible. Reynolds wasn't the problem with either though and most people seem to realize that.
People have been waiting for Deadpool for a very long time now and he's been talking about playing Deadpool since Blade Trinity when Deadpool was at New Line, so he's always been either the #1 choice or been attached to it for the past 10 years. Not saying other people couldn't play it, or he's the only choice. Sean Willaim Scott has been a popular choice as well. Tons of actors can play him, but Reynolds is as far as Dreadful casting with the characters as you can get.

Reynolds would have been great as Deadpool; during the 90s and before i had grown tired of his poor man's Jason Lee schtick.

90s? I don't even think he was in films back then. Dude has alot of range. Smoken Aces, Buried, Adventure Land, Amityville, Blade Trinity, Chaos Theory, The Nines, Just Friends and Safe House are all different characters. He was more type cast in the early 00s. With college comedies and Rom coms.

Even after Barakapool, people still want him as he as an actor has the potential to be perfect if the surrounding movie is done right.

http://otlnews.wordpress.com/2014/05/12/first-x-men-days-of-future-past-review-finds-its-way-online/

I dunno about what I would do if Marvel had the rights to the Xmen but the first review for DoFP has hit and its pretty great, not too spoilery

Movie seems to be a hit, no Marvel necessary :woot:

Alyson "Aly" Michalka for Emma Frost.

Ooooh, she's certainly got the look, not sure about the acting chops.

I don't care that Marvel doesn't have the rights, I just wish Fox would play nice.

I assume you mean by having them in the MCU. Imo, they are not needed and it'd be of benefit to neither. X-Men work better seperate.

Cable: Stephen Lang

Excellent casting, These would even work great in the current franchise.

In that case:

I'd like to see these cast for Apocalypse as the young versions.

SO GLAD Marvel doesn't have the rights.

THIS. x 1Million.

For me MCU is like Chicken, tastes great but it's common and simple, X-Men currently is like Steak, it's richer, juicier and more gourmet.

Lol..this might be one of the most uppity posts I've seen on this forum.

I like both Chicken and Steak, Steak is just less often and thus a little more special for me.
