Unfortunately it does come as a surprise to many for a reason I still don't know
Heh, I'm surprised many people are surprised.

What would people think about Mark Wahlberg for Shazam?
That's good stuff. So there's a Japanese fan manga with Shazam and Cyborg. The art is really well done.

And there's other work by the same guy.
http://www.gamesradar.com/exclusive...tter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=totalfilmFurther down the road, after Fast & Furious 7, Johnson will be bringing his superhuman physique to the DC universe in Shazam!, as Black Adam, and he gave Total Film an exclusive insight into what to expect.
So, will Black Adam be an anti-hero then? “I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero,” Johnson tells us in the new issue. “It’s all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he’s given the powers, he utilised them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology.”
And how, if at all, will Black Adam fit in with the wider DC universe? “It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected… One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters. But that said, there’s a great independence to Black Adam from the DC world, allowing us to inject, not only viciousness, but also winking humour
I am really excited that finally the Shazam mythos is coming to the screen, and is tied in to the DCCU (though as it's own thing to a degree). I think The Rock is a perfect Black Adam...but...i am disheartened that Cap seems as if he won't be the focus/star of the film, and that he will take a back seat to Black Adam, both in this film and in the larger DCCU. Am i wrong in the way I am reading everything from the past few months?

Right now the Rock is the only person we know is attached to the project, who plays Black Adam.
It should not come as a surprise that we have heard more about Black Adam
I know...but I guess i just meant that it seems to be that they are building the franchise around him, the villan/anit-hero vs the hero, that's all. I know it's still early, and more will come and the big red cheese will get more spotlight time, but at the end of the day, i still can't help feel this is a vehicle for The Rock/BA vs. a platform for Shazam/Captain Marvel as a character. I am not even saying that is a bad thing per se' just an observation that worries me the character won't get his just due. However, it could be that this is the only way to really get a character like Captain Marvel out there generally speaking.
or in Suicide Squad's midway city? There is no chance of Black Adam or Shazam being in BvS but... There was that set of some kind of temple that we do know of. Could there be references to Black Adam and Shazam in BvS?
I agree....I know that in recent years DC has been calling Cap "Shazam". But I wonder if that being the title of the film indicates that they will indeed split the focus onto both of these legendary characters who have been the champions of the Wizard? I'd be down for that. Tell both their stories in a compelling way.
Getting this sooner would be great, it a CBM that could be very different and also introduce two big heavy hitters into the DCCU.
