Wrestling Thread, You're Not Exactly EQUIPPED To Compete For The Women's Championship

So the cars and Ricado is why he was over?

Doesn't that kind of make my point for me?

I agree, WWE has had an appalling lack of black Champions. But I'm not sure if that's a reflection of what the crowd wants or of WWE itself.

WWE has shoved Roman Reign's boring arse down our throat nonstop so if they really wanted to, they could push a minority as well.

I thought Smackdown was solid, but there was no way they were going to top RAW's ending.

I like the start to the Ambrose/Styles feud. Nice to see Ambrose look like a real champ and, however briefly, fend off both Corbin and Styles. Styles continues to be an awesome main event heel.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but that opening with Miz and Ziggler was fantastic. Might be the first time I look at Miz as a "star" than a mid-carder.

I love what Smackdown is doing with it's Women's division and Tag Team division. The introduction of the teams with the tag tournament allows them to show each team's character and lay the seeds for future feuds. Same with the Women's division. Every Woman gets to spotlight her character leading up to the first champion. Hopefully it's not Nikki Bella. They really should make Bliss the first champ. She'd be a great heel champ.

Crews and Corbin's characters need a bit of tweaking, but you could really develop a mid-card around them.

...I don't know what the guy in the tighty whities was all about.

No doubt! But they have backed off Reigns for the time being. I mean if your viewership depends on showing what is wanted by the viewer, why try to push something that won't be successful? Could be another reason John Cena left. Maybe the "John Cena Sucks!" chants were drowning out the "Let's Go Cena!" chants.

Plus 15 years is long enough.

Smackdown has become the shoot show. Ambrose on Ziggler. Daniel Bryan on The Miz.
:lmao: Seriously, even though at times I am like the thread's token representative of the "wrestlers should look like wrestlers" school of thought, I can't get enough of Owens. He's like the WWE's answer to Deadpool and Leonard Snart (Arrowverse) combined; he's part of the show, but at the same time is a sarcastic outside observer commenting on it.
Owens like Jericho loves to troll people.

I love his obnoxious persona. He has a great acerbic wit.

Owens can wrestle as good as anyone on the roster and his mic work is fantastic.
I've read that Bobby Roode's entrance at a regular NXT Taping is:

He comes out on a rotating platform.
I hope Bobby Rodde's entrances get more and more elaborate.

Not going to lie, I love Owens. He's just the villain naturally. He may look like a redneck but he gets it.

Damn, so I guess we're never going to find out what the hell a Mex-American was.

so whats the consensus? is AJ winning the title at Backlash? I really hope so. He's a heel who still gets cheered

No, it has to be because of racism! Haven't you been following the thread? /Sarcasm

AJ gets cheered, but against a Face like Ambrose that gets real pops, the boos come out.

He's a great villain. I don't think he wins the title at Backlash, but he'll get it in a gimmick rematch (ladder match or something...).

Makes no sense bro. And I get you are being sarcastic but again, because you don't experience racism doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There is a reason a lot of minorities are complaining about it and there is a reason that Trump still has a chance at becoming President.

He does? He gets it? From Jericho?

Anyway, I wanted Rollins as the new champion but I've also been waiting for his face turn for a long time so I'm glad that's finally happening. I want more suicide dives, moonsaults and the freaking phoenix splash from Seth. He will become even more awesome. :woot:

I really wish they would have kept the Bullet Club and Wyatt Family together. I know they are trying to build up Smackdown with the brand split but the push Strowman is getting is ust not working.

Say what you want, the WWE has history flat out refusing to REALLY push talented African American Wrestlers.

They do! And I don't get these guys just brushing off racism like it doesn't exist. Are there guys who cry wolf? Sure! But let's not act as if HHH hasn't been accused of this before and let's be real, other than the Rock, has there been a black or hispanic champion since then? I don't think there has been but correct me if I'm wrong.

I must say that Smackdowns woman division does a lot of good things.

It pisses me off that Becky gets treated like the loveable loser, the underdog so to speak...she should dominate the division as champion.

But otherwise they do really good all around.
They make up for the overall less talent in the ring.
Carmella and Nikki have a surprisingly agressive feud, especiall on Carmellas side.
Naomi also tries very hard and found a new "style".
Alexa keeps up the good work.
Natalya is the constant fantastic Veteran.

This is all very interesting.
Now i only hope that they build up the title quite well...that can be archived with Becky as champion.

Agreed. The Wyatt's should have stuck together and the Club definitely should have moved to Smackdown and been a part of the Tag Team tournament.

Ambrose is expected to retain, but AJ winning would be more interesting. Think Ambrose wins at Backlash, Styles wins the title in the rematch at No Mercy.

has there been a black or hispanic champion since then?

Booker T, Mysterio, Del Rio. That's about it.

IMO, Vince was quite alright with pushing the Rock because, though I'm well aware of his African American heritage, he kinda looks like he's just tanned.

The last Heavyweight champs I can remember them pushing was Booker T on the secondary Smackdown show when he was pushing the whole "King Bookah" gimmick that, while funny, didn't exactly scream credibility.

I mean, I love the New Day, but why are all of their members overlooked when these Heavyweight title tournaments come around? They are literally the most over superstars on the roster and the pop for, say, Big E winning the title would be incredible, but nope. You guys stick with the Tag Title...forever.

Did any of them hold the actual "WWE title" or just the secondary "Big Gold" belt?

The Only "hispanic" people who held the WWE Title were Pedro Morales and Alberto Del Rio.

Eddie, Rey are both Mexican American if you want to be specific.
Booker T was never WWE Champ, he was World Heavyweight champ.

But the actual wwe title was only 2 times held by a hispanic wrestler and as far as i can tell...never from a black person.
So yeah, the statistic doesnt paint a good picture.
