CW Developing Live-Action Powerpuff Girls Series

Just like Superman and Lois...

We both know that it intentionally sets itself apart from the other shows on the network.

Maybe this show will be intended for teenage girls. Maybe it won't be any good. Maybe it's target audience, whatever that is, will eat it up and love it. But what is with the need to dump on anything that isn't targeted at a certain demographic? Calling a show intended for girls/women on a network that skews in a similar manner vapid just strikes me the wrong way. Especially as I don't know how many shows on the network anyone here watches that aren't the superhero ones. The network has produced a lot of gems aiming at that demographic, that a lot of people here probably didn't watch.

Sure. I don’t disagree that a lot of people here aren’t the target audience for a lot of CW stuff. That doesn’t (necessarily) mean that what they churn out is garbage, but that doesn’t absolve it of criticism either. Does PPG deserve criticism? Nah. They haven’t even gotten started yet. But I do think it’s fair to look at the network’s track record and see how it might fit into this series’ premise and be able to draw reasonable conclusions.

TL;DR: I agree with your original point in specific terms but not quite in general terms.

If you have to turn the PPGs greatest enemy into a human then you dont need to turn the PPG into a live action show.

Someone who read the script basically alluded to the show using Mojo Jojo JR. into Blossoms love interest.

Man, I hope they don't have one of them "fall in love" with Mojo (who's somehow mutated into a hot guy) and is lowkey their adoptive "brother".
Close enough.

So if this guy is Mojo Jojo Jr., does that mean he's part Chimpanzee? That would be kind of a hilarious spin on stuff like Twilight.

Mojo Sr. is a human but may have been turned into a monkey according to the script

Well said. I'm willing to give this show a chance. Will I like it? Maybe not but I've liked some of the casting decisions and it sounds interesting.

I think in general more people should judge shows/movies for what they are. I understand having complaints but I'll see people rag on an animated movie for being "too silly" or something when it's target audience is 6 year olds. Of course you won't like it :funny:

Did anybody like the Powerpuff Girls movie from back in the day. I thought it was pretty dope.

Ever watch Supernatural where literally almost every single monster was human looking 95% of the time? Yeah, that is the vibe I immediately got when they announced this live action series and this only reinforces my belief they will not have any of the villains be anything but a human most of the time. The CW is not going to invest the money into creating CG villains on any kind of regular basis so it is going to be all humans except when they briefly turn into their villainous counterparty for a minute or two.

It sucks but it is what I was expecting. Mojo Jojo, Him, Ganggreen Gang, Fuzzy Lumpkis, Sedusa, they are all going to be human with absolutely nothing outside maybe a costume to identify them.

If they can't make the Ganggreen Gang green w/some black contacts, Him red, Sedusa pale then they deserve to be canceled out the gate. Those characters can be done by cosplayers just as good.

Well, I kind of like they are keeping the costumes simple.

So they went for it with the outfits. I'm curious about the whole thing. It could easily be entertainingly bizarre, and it could easily be awful, but either way it looks like an experience.

I’m surprised they had the young adult versions wearing those dresses. I had assumed we’d only see them in pics and flashbacks.

I just noticed they are shooting in Atlanta instead of Vancouver. Hallelujah.

I would love to see how they translated the Rowdyruff Boys to live-action, assuming they ever appeared.

Do we know if this series will have the narrator? Even though you don't really need it for live-action, I liked Tom Kenny as the narrator in the original and would be curious if they have something like that for this version.

They likely wont but if they were smart...they would
