Season 1 / Episode 7: What If... Thor was an only child?

That was a hoot! Very funny from beginning to end, with a cool CM vs Thor fight in the middle. It reminded me of an old timey Looney Tunes cartoon with the names of countries printed in large letter, Surtur hitting on Lady Liberty, Thor tipping over Stonehenge and Thor furiously scrubbing graffiti while his mom approaches. The one quibble would be in the title, which should be "What if Loki was a giant?" He was rejected by Laufey because of his puny size, not misplaced during the battle.

Thor meets Project X? It was a nice run but not really my type of humor.

This one cracked me up for some reason. :D
Clancy Brown even came in and voiced Surtur.

I also wasn't bothered by the fact that the majority of this episode was filler, because I had such a blast watching it from beginning to end. Hemsworth was in pure Ragnarok mode here turned up to 11 and while I get why some people aren't a fan of that I was loving every minute of it lol.

I found the humor in this so much better than something like the Zombies episode which felt was very uneven IMO although I still enjoyed it but this was atleast more consistant.

So much great stuff in this episode like Thor and Jane's interactions which I hope is a sign of what we are getting in Love and Thunder, Frost Giant Loki and pretty much everything with Darcy.

I also really liked how Carol was utilized in this episode between that awesome fight with Thor and just seeing her interact with all the other characters that we haven't seen before.

All I wanted was more Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster in this episode.

This was probably my favourite episode of the season! Just so much fun and the jokes landed for the most part for me!

The voice acting for the series tends to be a mixed bag, but I think it was really good this week, with Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Dennings, and Green being the standouts! Clancy Brown was also hilarious as Surtur, and the voice actress for Captain Marvel sounded pretty good! Even Natalie Portman did alright, IMO.

Loved so many moments like the fight between Captain Marvel and Thor, Loki being so laidback, hanging out with Thor, and the cellphone being tiny in the palm of his hand, plus Surtur with the Statue of Liberty, and Fury getting injured by Korg! :funny:

When the fight went down between Captain Marvel and Thor, I was like, “How was he able to beat her?”, but the explanation made a lot of sense with holding back the full extent of her abilities.

Side note: I know he was listed in the credits, but I didn’t seem to notice Waititi’s Korg getting lines, unless it slipped past me. Even characters like Nebula and Grandmaster got a few lines.

By the end of the episode, I thought this is the first episode that goes on a positive note, then we got that cliffhanger, which I assume leads into next weeks’ installment.

Regarding the Thor vs Captain Marvel fight.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that when everything is said and done Thor is more powerful than CM. Even though the MCU isn’t the comics, its still heavily based on those books and Thor is simply more powerful. They’ve just bumped up CM level in the MCU.

Regardless even in this battle, we basically see base Thor vs CM and they seem more or less evenly matched. She claims her full power would create craters and apparently Thor destroyed planets. Also Thor’s power level is constantly evolving and he’s far superior in Ragnarok and IW for example.

This was a funny episode, filler but fun none the less. It’s interesting that without Loki as his brother, Thor is much more selfish and arrogant.

After rewatching the episode I realize that when Thor calls CM a “party popper” someone far away in the background laughs “oh oh oh”. It’s so freaking funny to me! :D

Btw the YouTube channel #StruggleNation brilliantly reacted to the episode. That’s the spirit.

So what do we think happens after Ultron Prime’s arrival?

I don’t think they have enough fire power to deal with a threat of that caliber. I think Ultron Prime might come in swinging and take out someone substancial to really drive the point home that he means business.

Hopefully, they do establish Ultron Prime as a serious threat and I think the best way to do that would definitely be him taking out one of the heroes without much of a hassle like one of the heavy hitters.

I really don't see how they stand much of a chance against him though with a completed Infinity Gauntlet and the added power of both Ultron and Vision even with the help of Thor, CM and Doctor Strange.

I wonder if we’re going to see Ultron Prime next week, the finale, or both.

Fun and lighthearted but other than the showdown between Thor and Captain Marvel - this one didn't hold my attention. Just kind of an "eh" episode.

Such a dumb, fun episode that had a lot of funny moments. It was a nice change of pace from the most recent episodes which were dark, this one was definitely on the light hearted side

Nice to see many character cameos from the Thor & Guardians movies all partying it up

So what was up with that Ultron set up at the end? I noticed he had the Infinity Stones.

It came out of nowhere, even the Watcher was like “wait what ?”. He seems to be the main villain of the series. I think he’s likely from another universe where he actually took over everything and now he’s probably expanding his domain into other universes which should clash with the Watcher’s intentions.

They were clearly going for an 80s house party while the parents are away movie theme. It just didn't work for me. And why did it take Thor’s mom so long to get to Earth that they had enough time to fix everything? The movies have show it’s pretty instantaneous.
