How Eternals Sets Up Hercules and Greek Gods' MCU Debut
Well Ares and Zeus have already bee confirmed in the MCU.
I think we'll see a few more in TLT. I bet there's at the very least a nod to Hercules as well.
That said... Crowe as Zeus has me worried that in order to build up The God Butcher he'll have to take out the Greek Pantheon.
Not necessarily. They can always have Gorr kill off some lesser or even unnamed gods to make the point.
Sure the Ares bust was an easter egg but as with other easter eggs in the MCU, these things are eventually addressed and explored even further. At first glance it's something for the fans, for people to be interested/aware about and then later on they can use those nods and acquired knowledge from the fans to build into something more substantial.Eh... The Ares bust from TR feels like something put in for fans to squee over as we do like the Pavlovian dogs we are.
Now I am all for inclusion of the Olympians at some point.
That said... Crowe as Zeus has me worried that in order to build up The God Butcher he'll have to take out the Greek Pantheon. I hope I'm wrong.
Though if Zeus dies that's not a bad hook to bring in Hercules at a later date.
When i was watching Shang Chi and they explained Ta-lo as a pocket dimension parallel to earth accessible through that portal in China i immediately made the connection with the Olympians and how they also inhabit a pocket dimension in the comics which is situated in Greece and is accessible through Mount Olympus.
So with a precedent in the MCU for pocket dimensions, creatures of legend and other deities i'm looking forward to see how they'll fold the Olympians into the MCU tapestry.
There's a 2019 comic called "Avengers: No Road Home" which features the Olympians, Zeus, Hercules and a goddess called Nyx. The way she deals with the them and dispatches with Zeus made me think about how Gorr could interact with him/them as well.
Feels like time to introduce him, and keep him alive for future MCU appearances.I really, really hope Herc is in the film.
I disagree here. Sure it looks a bit glossy but it’s polished and the colors pop really well, I do think Olympus looks really good, specially those first 2 images, very Asgard-esque… The thing I would like to see would be more weight added on that lightning prop so it wouldn’t bounce as much. Some CGI adjustments should do the trick. The vfX needs more work in those gifs but okay. Intrigued by the introduction of more Greek mythology Gods.
