Part V (Spoiler Thread)

Tala was a great writing character who had an arc and realized that The Empire didn't have the best intentions and she turned to aid refugees.

Reva is writing terribly and her motivation as well as her character arc is all over the place. First she introduced as an ambitious Inquisitor who wants to rise in rank too over succeed her fellow brethren, then she seems to have this venomous vendetta against Obi-Wan Kenobi and literally plots to draw him out, then she tries to usurp The Grand Inquisitor to get favor with Vader all the while playing a long-term con to try and kill Vader? I'm sorry but that is the most convoluted story I've seen in Star Wars.

Finally watched it.

Oh my god - Vader was an absolute beast in this episode. The writers were like "Let's give them all the fanservice" lol.

But with how things were set up for the finale, do you think we will see another Kenobi/Vader showdown in the last episode?

I really hope so.

Obi-wan talking to Leia about being a Jedi just a foot or two from an imperial sympathizer snitch.

Tala talking to Obi-Wan normally over a com directly next to an Imp about their base break in.

Reva and Obi-Wan talking about Reva’s origin and their shared goal to take down Vader just feet away from an entire squad of stormtroopers.

Gotta love it

I mean most of us think that episode was pretty good right? I was pretty satisfied. It wasn't as perfect as it could be but I have no big complaints either.

At this point, it's safe to assume the gut stab didn't kill Qui-Gon, he just "lost the will to live."

Yea I mean overall it was satisfying compared to the last 2 episodes but that ending really left me kind of mad. Lol your right Qui-Gon died because Lucas said too lol

...they're not in a city center, let alone a city. It's very reminiscent of the Jedi Temple - yet looks a bit more flush with nature. It looks like a Jedi "spa" planet, lol.
It was the jedi temple, similar to the yoda training youngling scene in attack of the clones. I think it is one of the towers.

Why would a Jedi cling to life? Accepting death as a natural part of the Force is part of being a Jedi. They would not use the Force in an unnatural way.

you could maybe argue that sith have an unnatural ability to survive death but Reva got stabbed as young jedi in the stomach so shes been stabbed twice now in vital organs about 10 years apart.

It just calls into question if Disney even understands the property they paid Lucas 5 billion for. Just last episode obiwan wacked a trooper twice in the chest and his saber bounced off but in this episode he stabbed one right in the stomach.

I thought the reveal this episode actually provided clarity to Reva's motivations. My read was that her obsession all along was simply Vader. She just knew Obi-Wan was the key to drawing him out which was why she was hell bent on Kenobi and thought that emotional connection would give her a tactical advantage over Vader. As for the title of Grand Inquisitor, I don't believe she actually ever said she had any designs on attaining it; that's what other characters assumed. Ultimately she was using any means necessary to get close to Vader, possibly win his trust then kill him. Everyone else was just collateral damage to her accomplishing that goal.

This episode is the epitome of conflicted writing. It had some of the best and worst moments of the entire series thus far, but Vader thankfully saves every scene he’s in. However, whoever thought Reva was a great conflicted character, needs to go back to the drawing board. Her plan was to grow through the ranks by luring Obi-Wan out which would gain her favor with Vader so she could then kill him? It doesn’t make any sense because 1. Kidnapping Leia wasn’t something she should even be aware of having any barring on Obi-Wan’s motivation, 2. It’s not explained how she even knows he’s alive, 3. Shouldn’t she want to kill all the Inquisitors not just the Grand if she partially blames them for her current predicament, and 4. She didn’t disarm Vader or put him in a vulnerable state to justify attacking him when she did despite planning this for a decade.

What makes things even more frustrating is Vader wouldn’t seriously let her live after betraying him. He’s literally killed people for just existing (as the show demonstrated two episodes ago).

This was probably the best episode yet, which is kind of becoming a running trend with Disney+ series and their penultimate episodes. The highlights were anything Reva did and the training flashbacks to AOTC era Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Is this the penultimate episode? Feels like it just started! (although I was late on episode 1)

You mean the guy who had someone survive being literally sliced in half and falling down a shaft? Like c’mon man.

What on Earth does Rey have to do with anything?
She didn't except death... she created a new force power by willing a monster and Ben back to life. I know I hate that movie, but that wasn't a forgettable part of said film.

The creature wasn’t dead, just injured. And Ben is the one who brought Rey back. I don’t like the movie very much either (i.e at all).

Wait, what new force power did she create?

If you are talking about healing, she didn't invent it. She gets it from the text Luke had (Luke clearly taught it to Ben), and we are seeing the general ability show in canon before her appearance (Grogurt), just like freezing blaster bolts in the air and using the Force to mind assault and take information from folk.

I double checked... yeah, you're correct. The vegetation around the wall/patio made the landscape look way different than what I'm used to with Coruscant. That's what I get for waking up early to watch this.

UGHHHHHHHHHH you know what I mean. She's the first to use it in live-action SW / semantics.

She literally kept him from dying by healing a gaping hole in his abdomen.

But like, that context matters. It's like those complaining she's a "Mary Sue" because she uses the Force well "without training", while I watch Grogurt levitate a damn wildebeest, while being a baby. Grogurt also used healing in canon first. A few days before TRoS hit theaters.

If the idea is to reduce Force abilities to whatever showed up in the first 6 movies, we are in a for very boring future for Force wielders.

She wasn’t tho. Grogu was.

I did legitimately forget this scene, but I will say, if I’m remembering the scene correctly, that was more Rey trying to make-up for using the dark side in that moment, and showing mercy to a fallen enemy then actually keeping them alive in desperation. Which is irrelevant as she’s not using the Force to keep herself alive.

Also who is “Disney”? I see that take a lot. That “Disney” is ruining Star Wars. That “Disney” doesn’t get Star Wars. Like who is Disney to you? Is it the shareholders? The board? Kennedy? Iger? Who do you mean when you refer to Disney?

I don’t like Disney, the corporation, much either, but for like, real-life reasons, not space wizards reasons.

The way I see the scene is two fold. First, a Jedi is never to strike someone in anger. Doing so is the path to the dark side. Luke realized this in RotJ, which right before he was about to kill his papa.

Second, I'm sure her feeling the passing of Leia and realizing Ben reacted to it, played some role.

I'm speaking on us as the viewers witnessing powers for the first time. Nothing with or without context within the films/shows.

Yeah, no one ever survives anything life threatening in Star Wars...
