The Batcave Lounge aka The Batusi

We were discussing Pink Floyd the other day and now I see posts about NIN. I really feel like home here hehe :D
I really love this "group" and saw them twice in concert, incredible shows!
Even if I loved the very Noir snippet from Giacchino's work in the teaser, since the trailer and its 90' vibes, I inevitably thought of NIN too as an influence in the soundtrack.
The one I keep coming back to is "Help me, I'm in hell". It's the sound of someone about to lose it imo. It certainly could work for the Joker madness or Riddler twisted and calculating mind, but I really like to imagine it on the red soaked images of Battison.

For the longest time "Gave Up" played in my head whenever I read the ending of the graphic novel 'Joker' when he's in the midst of one of his breakdowns, lighting the streets on fire with cocktails.

I'm not really sure if there's any NIN song that would be good for Joker in general though. Maybe "Burn"? Reeves' Joker might have a slight punk-ish edge to him judging from all those posters so that one could be possible

I miss when they were niche and oftentimes absurdist. Now people are just using them for everyday situations and it just doesn't work. Feels like a bastardization tbh.

@AndyTrevino What are your fave Swans albums and tracks Andy? Don't really bump into a lot of people who are into Swans. Gira is an absolute madman

I've only really been able to get into their older stuff, but my favorite tracks of theirs are:

Cop (especially because the lyrics are true)
Power For Power
New Mind
I Am The Sun
Like A Drug (Sha La La La)

Interesting, I'm not into a lot of the older 80s stuff although Castration is an insanely brutal album. Gotta be in the right mind frame for the old stuff.

The Swans are Dead live album is their best for me, the version of Blood Promise on that is basically a religious experience.

The Glowing Man, Swans Are Dead and Great Annihilator for me probs

Song wise, I'm thinking Blood Promise, The Sound, Nathalie Neal, Killing For Company, Love Will Save You and I Crawled (also the Swans Are Dead version). I def like my Swans more atmospheric and post-rock

I don't really need help in the mind frame department, but it also helps(???) that I have ADHD, so aggressive and more abrasive sounds kinda satisfy that part of my brain if that makes any sense at all.

I find most atmospheric stuff pretty hard to actually get into.

I feel that. I love super intense music and death metal like Opeth, so dw I get it. I just find it a bit hard to get into that no-wave noise rock stuff like Filth - I need more technical drums and stuff to latch onto. I do like some wall of noise and doom stuff though, like Sunn O)))

Atmospheric and dreamy stuff is my thing tho

For some noise rock introduction I'd highly recommend Part Chimp and Electric Wizard.

@AndyTrevino cool, I've heard of that Electric Wizard album, I'll listen.

The one noise rock thing I liked a lot besides Swans was Daughters' You Won't Get What You Want album from a couple years ago. It's so manic and crazy. The slow burning noise stuff can be more hit and miss with me, I like when it's just wild like this and Swans' Oxygen, etc and with some NIN vibes.

(this second song is the one song on the album that isn't intense, but its got such a neat NIN influence and the video is great)

I also like Death Grips (and Clipping) a lot if we're counting noisy hip-hop stuff.

It's crazy and rather sad how most music videos and some commercials have better camerawork than a lot of TV shows.

Yeah, it's real nice when you see some music vids with ridiculously great direction. Lotta great Radiohead music vids for example

Paul Thomas Andersen's Anima Thom Yorke film is amazing, but this is also from the same project and it's insane how much effort went into it.The production quality is absurd

Honestly, I really hate that dramatic metal sound that's become trendy in the past few years. Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, Transiberian Orchestra, Bad Wolves, Five Finger Death Punch. It's so grating to me.

I agree but aren't those guys all like 2000s? A lot of more mainstream metal stuff has aways been super cheesy

Oof, I decided to watch the premiere of Batwoman for fun and it's so bad it's just bad. The new actress playing Batwoman could've been better than the last but this dialogue is just terrible. Bad acting everywhere. Everywhere I tell you!
