AI has been recently used in projects such as Civil War for promotional posters and Late Night with the Devil for title cards in the film, but this... is the worst one yet.

Further regulation needs to happen quickly.

Yikes.

Even as someone who uses AI, I want further regulation to happen asap. I've already seen way too many fake pictures of real people. And don't even get me started on the fools trying to use it to make music. I have been recommended more channels posting AI songs of real popular artists (usually deceased) than I'd like to admit. Like, how is that even legal?

I like AI, gives me a chance to show people ideas I've had for years but don't currently have the capital to produce in other ways. But the amount of people using it for crap like this (whether working in the industry or not) is ridiculous.

I remember hearing Scarlett Johansson is suing a company because someone used their services to make porn of her. And then there was the whole thing with people doing it with Taylor Swift around the time of the Super Bowl.

It's a great tool that can be helpful when used properly but as expected you have a lot of scumbags who will use it for the wrong purposes. Better to just regulate it amicably now to nip it all in the bud.

Slight spoilers for the new season of The Circle, in case someone here is watching.

In a less nefarious (but equally chilling) turn of AI events, the new season of The Circle has an AI chatbot in the mix. If you're not familiar with the show, it's a social media-style popularity contest on Netflix. The contestants don't meet face-to-face until the very end, so it's customary for a portion of them to catfish the other players to maximize their perceived chances of popularity and winning the show. The chatbot analyzed former seasons of the show to create a perfect profile to convince the contestants, and it's analyzing everything they say to further manipulate and win them over. It was revealed that there's an AI posing as a person in the game, and the AI was barely even considered by the vast majority of the players. It was able to create such a passive but likeable persona that it was able to fall through the cracks while several humans were harshly accused.

It's pretty chilling to watch a contestant chatting with the AI and thinking they were having a genuine chat and getting to know someone, while the AI is recounting to the audience what techniques it's using to misdirect the player and how it's constantly collecting data from everything it's being told. Scary stuff, and just as entertaining too in this (relatively) harmless sandbox.
