The Dark Knight Anybody regret watching the prologue?

I don't regret watching it at all.
All the hype for me seeing this film and knowing it is going to be awesome has come from both that and the trailer.

And what's that old saying...
"Better to regret something you have done than something you haven't".

Those were real school buses taking kids to school.

The Joker must've cased the bank a few times before the robbery. He saw that the school buses drove by everyday like clockwork. He stole a bus and then times the robbery so that when he leaves, Joker’s bus blends in with the rest of the real school buses filled with kids actually going to school.

It’s quite brilliant.

I don't think they were going to school, I think they were going on a field trip to the hospital. If you go to youtube you can watch the explosion of the hospital being filmed and there are a lot of school buses in the parking lot and you can see one "driving away" during the explosion... maybe the Joker's bus. This is just my opinion of course

The hospital scene will happen later on in the film. I think a lot of events have to transpire before it occurs to the Joker that he has to destroy an entire hospital for his plan to take full shape.

The physical comedy is what I like most about the scene, it's the first smart bit of humor I've seen from Nolan.

Nolan has plenty of smart humour in his movies. Memento and Batman Begins in particular.

Remember, it's a Nolan film. the order things happen in the film aren't necessarily the same order they happen chronologically.

I'd be very surprised if The Dark Knight doesn't jump around in time like all of his previous films have.

If it was a field trip, it would just be one or two buses, not an entire caravan. They are probably either going to, or leaving school. My guess is that school just got out, and the school is fairly close to the bank. Not being too far removed from public high school, I can say that on the way to school buses are never together like that, but at the end of the school day when they are first leaving, at least in my experience, the buses are all together for awhile until they start to take their different routes.

I saw the movie in San Francisco the weekend it opened, and there was plenty of laughter. Part of it was the sheer joy of surprise at what we were seeing, but a lot of it was the stuff that was built in.
