Who is the best director of superhero movies?

Notice the 's' - only directors of two or more superhero movies are included.

Richard Donner (Superman, Superman II)
Richard Lester (Superman II & III)
Tim Burton (Batman, Batman Returns, almost Superman Lives!)
Joel Schumacher (Batman Forever, Batman & Robin)
Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2, Superman Returns)
Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 1-3)
Steven Mark Johnson (Daredevil & Ghost Rider)

Hellboy is pretty super, and heroic.

Blade is also rather super, and heroic yet again.

They are both more heroic and super than batman...

Raimi. Spidey's got huge heart, transcending all major genres. I love that.

The word 'superhero' comes from 'Superman'. A superhero is a character like, or based upon, Superman, and neither Blade or Hellboy are that.

No Christopher Nolan?

I think He didn't put Nolan on there because the Dark Knight isn't done yet, so there for he's only completed one superhero movie.

Based purely on the poll, Burton gets my vote.

I voted Sam Raimi

Sam "Almighty" Raimi :D

Donner all the way. Why is Lester on there? Didn't he only do like 1/4 of Superman 2? Or did he do Superman 3 or 4 as well?

He did Superman III also.

Also, shouldn't there be an other option?

Voted Singer for the "chef-d'oeuvres" that is x2, the vision he had in X-men...
(i don't count Superman as it's wasn't my cup of tea :o)

but batman is?

By that definition, he is the prime example. Batman was created basically to capitalize off the popularity of Superman, right down to the aesthetic. It's why, despite being a "creature of the night" he was still given the tights and briefs.

Anyways, gotta give this to Raimi.

Singer = overrated city

SR sucked and X-Men is far from great. All he has is X2.

Are we talking about the best direction within a superhero film, or the best director to have made a superhero film?

In that case, Singer for X2 from the list, or maybe burton......grrrrrr.

Donner...This all started with him.

CFE

not everything he hit was a home run but S.Norrington rocked the heck outta Blade. could be the best superhero/Marvel film ever.
when i 1st saw the film my thoughts were simply :wow.

Richard Donner. The first, really, to make a super hero truly iconic on the big screen.
