Okay so yesterday me and a group of friends were skating at the park, when out of no ware my friend Danny sees my friend pull out his cell phone, so hes like cell phone will kill you.

and I'm like yea cuz of radiation, and hes like not only that but bees.

so i was like bees what the **** does that have to do with cell phones.

than he said, Well because bees use radiation waves to travel. by us using cell phones we can throw of their travel patterns and also make them not want to go to their hives, so in turn they die..

so i was like so what, and he said what do you mean so what, bees are the number one sources of plant pollination, if they die, so do plants, although their are many other sources of pollination, such as other animals and the wind.

anyway he said since December of this year a rapid decline of bees went into effect, and he also said Einstein theory was that if bees die out, humans have 4 years to live.

part 2 of his theory was, December 2007 was the date of the decline now this upcoming year 2008 + 4 = 2012.

the suppose day of Earth demise, December 21, 2012.

ohh nooss!!

discuss, bull **** or not bull ****. i mean yes the bee decline is true but what about the 4 years of life left?

I'm gonna stop using my cell for a while.

i was a bee once for halloween. mee love thee bees!

well that would suck!
and dude, not only your celphone uses radiowaves. There is constant radio noise (and i ain't talkin music) including radiation left over from the big-bang. The whole universe is filled with radio waves so i'm sure your cellphone will not confuse the bees.

You're right the world will end soon. Quickly sell me all your possessions for a dollar then go live under an overpass and warn others of the upcomming apocaplypse before it's too late.

yea i forgot to add its mostly cell phone towers too. but yes there are numbers of things that are doing this, but latly it has been accesive cell phone use. just about everyone in the world has a cell phone, and a vast majority over use them.

im just saying imo bees may become extinct.

i do not know much about this, but if bees use radio waves to locate their hive, and IF cellphones use the same wavelenghts then maybe, just maybe, you might be right
this is however, as probable as godzilla comin' around for tea tomorow :)

I'm looking for the part where it becomes fact ...

Cell phones have been in use for 20 years and somehow now the bees are rapidly declining due to their use? Baloney.

well you want evidence here ya go. 70% of americas bee population dead already :wow:

Cell Phones and Bee Death Buzz

Are Cell Phones Really Killing the Bees?

Over the past several months there has been a rapid decline of significant percentages of world wide bee colonies. Colony Collapse Disorder is the new name for what has been destroying bee hives. The alarm was first sounded last autumn, but has now hit half of all American states. The West Coast is reported to have lost 60 percent of its commercial bee population, with 70 percent gone on the East Coast. Scientists are don’t know the exact cause, but researchers at Landau University suggest that radiation from mobile phones may be at least partially to blame. Some suggest that the proliferation of cell towers in rural areas may play a role.

Don’t be too quick to believe that cell phones will cause our doom. Spiegel Online looks critically at the research on cellphones and bees death in detail. This article also looks at the many other, more convincing reasons for the Colony Collapse Disorder such as GM crops or global warming.
Bill Maher asked on his HBO show last week if people would give up using the cellphone in order to save the bees - and help prevent the massive ecological collapse and wide spread hunger. He repeated the now famous but quote by Albert Einstein “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years left to live.’ But is it accurate? Snopes.com suggests its very doubtful Einstein ever said that.

But the reasoning of this statement, that bees are significant pollinators, pollinating over 60 different types of crops up to a third of all our food crops still holds true. Without pollinators, fruit trees wouldn’t give us their yummy harvests, and many other plants such as cucumbers, squash, watermelons and pumpkins would exist only in the history books - provided there would still be those too.

EnvironmentDebate.com offers that while it may not be certain that Einstein wrote that it is certain that Rachel Carson wrote in Silent Spring “Man is more dependent on these wild pollinators than he usually realizes. Even the farmer himself seldom understands the value of wild bees and often participates in the very measures that rob him of their services.
…Without insect pollination, most of the soil-holding and soil-enriching plants of uncultivated areas would die out, with far-reaching consequences to the ecology of the whole region …”
from environmentdebate.

I suspect we will be hearing more about Colony Collapse Disorder in the coming months, better start saving up now because food prices are going to go crazy.

A very good article was in the New York Times today about Colony Collapse Syndrome debunks some of the hype and offers new facts. Also today, the celsias blog has a very good take on the media and blog hyper-hype around cellphones zapping bees.

It would totally suck if the thing the destroys human life is Bees. Giant Astorid, Nukes, Giant Earthwake, Super disease, Famine, War, hell even a Zombie Apocalypse I would take over freaken Bees!

yeah, about that. As i just graduated with a major in ecology i can tell you i think it's highty unlikely and i don't believe it. The change is to rapid and cellphones have been here for some time. Remember they say "commercial poppulations" that means bee farms, not wild bees, and besides, in america you have those nice evil african bees, just enjoy them. Climate change is a far more likely cause. And so are many others including new types of chems for crops, new fertilisers or any pther posible disruption in the ecosistem. Or just not enough goverment grants for bee farms, that causing wide-spread closing of said farms that would reduce bee populations.

And also as evidance, danny pointed something out, he asked us how many bees weve seen so far this year, and i actually didnt think about that.

last year around this time i saw about 100 somewhat bees in total, this year iv seen 4-5.

tell me, does danny also say that dog's can't look up?
(shawn on the dead refference)

Is Shawn On The Dead a sequel or prequel to Shawn Of The Dead?:woot:

Ice-Man - all your evidence proves is that bees are rapidly declining. It doesn't prove cell phones are to blame.

it's the porn version :ninja:

or it might be a typo

Can always count on Ice-man for an amusing thread. Why are the bees just now getting confused by cell phones? I could understand this theory if cell phones just recently went "mainstream", but it's been that way for years. This reminds me of the bird-flu scare, whatever happened to that, shouldn't we all be dead because of that by now?

i know someone who was in a quarantined hood because of that! :woot:

it was amusing for me.

All the birds with bird-flu died from the anthrax mailings ...
