Thankfully , some scholars argue that they ( the one living in country with those ridiculous sunlight hours) should follow a fasting schedule that is more in line with Mecca praying hour .After all ,the start of fasting and breaking fast is based on the those( the 5 daily prayer , the first and third to be more exact)if they already got that sorted out then they're good to go.

I caught a throat infection today that came with a fever as well. Managed to make it till break fast. It sucked sooooooo bad but at least I didn't break.

really? Isn't a goal to be able to empathize with the needy? My other muslim flatmate reamed him out for it (which was interesting because he's much more liberal in his beliefs, as in doesn't really follow anything).

Ramadan is not just about not eating, it's about relating to the suffering of the impoverished. It's about self-reflection and fighting against the base desires of nature. You can fast all day but if you are lying, cheating, yelling, and basically doing anything that is considered "not good" then the fast is meaningless.

The fast is just a vehicle for an individual to learn about himself and herself, the needs of the poor, and a closeness to God.

that, and self-discipline/self-control. trying to not do bad things. but that doesn't mean you can't take the easy way out. hence the whole middle east going nocturnal for this month.

Yeah I know...but I kept telling myself there are others(Muslim and non-Muslims) out there sick and starving on a daily basis that compared to what they're going through, this was nothing.

We're in the final stretch, gang. Time really flew by for me this year.

so, a list of things i've done this ramadan.

-barely touched the Qur'an.
-missed zuhr more than a couple of times.
-got a little depressed.
-went to go see inside out during my fast.
-bought a ps vita for $106.
-did a full 20 tarabis for maybe, 8 nights or less.
-fluctuated around 145 pounds.
-killed at least 5 spiders.
