Rank the Superman movies (including MOS)

Caught the full movie today.... and have to say, this is the best superman movie.

Superman 2 is a distant 2nd for me.

The way I understand it, is Clark Kent trying to act completely different than Superman (Superman: Very Serious, Clark Kent:Very Goofy), so even if he puts on glasses. NO one will recognize him as Superman, even if they see a resemblance they will think it's completely stupid because these two person have complete OPPOSITE personalities.

In Man of Steel, Clark and Superman are hardly distinguishable, they seem just like the same person!

DPlanet Clark is supposed to be mild mannered and unassuming, not goofy.

Superman The Movie (Still, the best one despite flaws like campy Lex Luthor.)

Man Of Steel.

Superman Returns.

Superman II (Lester version)

Superman III

Superman IV

Wow

MOS is beating STM by a wide margin.

I didn't expect that.

I had posted this ranking in another thread:

4. Superman III
5. Superman Returns
6. Superman IV

1.) Man of Steel
2.) Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
3.) Superman: The Movie

I can't vote it's unfair. STM and MOS are the best for their respective gens.

That's what I think. I have them sort of tied, as for me they tick all of the boxes that makes a movie great, but they are different boxes for each film. I've seen MOS twice now, and it was even better second time around. I can't get enough of this film. Simply breathtaking.:yay::yay::yay:

Superman: The Movie
Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
Superman II
Superman Returns = Man of Steel
Superman III
Superman IV

Umm...

MOS
S:TM
SII
SR
SIII
SIV

It's a a thin margin between MOS and S:TM, but a lot of that might be about nostalgia. I also really liked the Christian symbolism of the original. But the grandeur and depth of MOS really swept me up and the first true Superman throw down was amazing.

I adore Christopher Reeve...but....

it's no contest.

For the record, MOS is still a better Superman story to me.

I'm not sure about a better film than STM from a quality stand point, but it's much more fun and much closer to the Superman that I love.

1. Superman 1978
2. The Last Son of Krypton
3. Man of Steel
4. Superman vs. The Elite
5. Superman Unbound
6. All-Star Superman
7. Superman Doomsday
8. Superman 2
9. Superman Returns

1. Superman: The Movie: 9.5/10

2. Superman II: 8/10

3. Man of Steel: 7/10

4. Superman Returns: 6/10

5. Superman IV: 3/10

6. Superman III: 1/10

This poll will look very different in a few years. Kind of like people claiming that Returns was better than STM in 2006. It will not last.

Man of Steel
Superman II
Superman (The Movie)
Superman Returns
Superman IV
Superman III

Although, you think we should count theatrical Superman II and the Donner cut as separate films since they're so different?

As for Clark & Superman...

Right now, Reeve retains his title as the top Superman. But I could see Cavill claiming it. ATM though, he's too new and Reeve too iconic.
So,

Reeve
Cavill
Welling
Routh
Cain
(I'm counting TV too, sue me)

As for Clark, I never liked the goofy-nerdy-clumsy Clark approach of Reeve, so...

Welling
Cavill
Reeve
Routh
Cain

...Wow, poor Dean Cain. I liked the show and all but I guess head-to-head against the others, he doesn't fair well, lol.

As for Hero Origin films overall,

Batman Begins
Man of Steel
Captain America
Superman (The Movie)
Ironman
Spider-Man

Not sure which X-Men film counts as Origins, didn't care for Thor enough to even rank it, and have only seen Amazing Spider-Man once so I can't really place it either (tho I liked it) and for any film I've left out it's because I'm not certain if it qualifies lol.

Superman: The Movie

Superman II (and any and all of Donner's original filmed stuff that was once a part of the story and script)

.

.

.

Man Of Steel

Superman Returns

.

.

.

Superman III (the fight between Superman and Clark Kent is amazing though)

Superman IV

Nothing can, nor ever will top Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Superman and Clark Kent. That's tops to me.

People have a problem with the mild mannered, bumbling, Clark Kent (the DP reporter) archetype? That's one of the best parts of Reeve's performance.

After Clark does his little schtick, look at him 0:30, it's magical and brilliant. The voice, the slouch, all of it.

1) Superman The Movie (9.5)
2) Superman 2 (7.9)
3) MOS (7.5)

4) Superman 3 (6.9)
5) Superman Returns (5.2)
6) Superman 4 (3.3)

MOS was a quality effort but what made Superman the Movie so magical for me was a combination of genuine heart and good ole nostalgia.

While MOS came up short of my expectations I think it's a huge improvement from SR and a solid start to the DCU.

6) Superman III (i've never sat through the whole thing so....) (1/10)
