The DVD Thread

Anyone notice how sickly Frank Miller is looking. You see him in the on set footage, and he is okay. Then you see him in the theater setting footage and he looks terrible. I'm worried for the guy.

I plan to pick this up on DVD real soon.:woot:

Just ordered the DVD / HD combo

300 Breaks High Definition Record

Warner Home Video (WHV) announced today that it has the fastest and highest-selling high definition title in the market with the epic action-adventure, 300. Since July 31, 2007, 300 has sold more than 250,000 copies to consumers on HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

300 provides another high definition milestone for Warner Home Video which was the first studio to break the 100K sold mark with The Departed. Overall WHV has six of the top 10 selling high definition titles with 300, The Departed, Superman Returns, "Planet Earth - The Complete Collection," Batman Begins, and Happy Feet. Warner also has the highest grossing high definition title with the dual-format release of "Planet Earth."

"'300' is an amazing film, and the high definition sales we are seeing underscores the positive business benefits of supporting both HD DVD and Blu-ray," said Ron Sanders, President of Warner Home Video. "This phenomenal response to '300' is the latest proof that our approach makes the most sense in today's market and has enabled Warner Home Video to continue to lead the market in high definition sales."

Based on the stylized graphic novel from icon Frank Miller (Sin City), 300 is an epic action-adventure about the 300 Spartan warriors led by the heroic King Leonidas who challenged Xerxes and his massive Persian army at the ancient Battle of Thermopylae.

Leveraging the capabilities that the high definition formats enable, 300 on HD DVD incorporates exclusives interactive features. Any HD DVD player connected to the internet can take advantage of the web enabled features, which include the ability for viewers to pick their favorite scenes to assemble montages and share them with friends. Users can also rate scenes within the Warner connected community as well as purchase and collect wall paper and ring tones for mobile phones. Both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD formats include additional bonus material.

Watched it the other day on HD DVD. Looks pretty cool. Personally I wasn't able to tell a whole lot of difference between that and the theatrical release.

It's not working for me. I have the regular dvd. Perhaps it's on the HD & Blu-Ray only?

I apologize, everyone.
It's not on the deleted scenes section, it's actually on the 1st. disc.
Just go to the Special Features, which should only show you the option to turn the commentary on or off. There you have to press up, and some blood where it says "Special Features" should be highlighted. Just press enter and enjoy.

Sorry about the confusion again.

He started reading the SHH! boards a few weeks ago.

300 Dominates DVD Sales and Rentals

Warner Home Video scored big with the simultaneous DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of 300. The film, which grossed $210.6 million theaters, easily swept into the top spot on the national home video sales and rental charts in its first week in stores.

On the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week ending Aug. 5, the actioner outsold its closest competitor, Universal Studios' Hot Fuzz, by a margin of more than 7-to-1.

On Home Media Magazine's video rental chart, 300 took the top spot with estimated rental earnings of $11.9 million, compared with $6.4 million for the second-ranked Hot Fuzz, even though typically strong sellers make weak renters.

On the sales front, Hot Fuzz debuted at No. 2, with first-week sales pegged by studio sources at more than 1 million units -- well above what one would expect for a title of this box office ($23.6 million).

20th Century Fox's Pathfinder, an actioner that made a little more than $10 million in theaters, debuted at No. 3 on First Alert and at No. 6 on the rental chart, with $4.5 million in rental revenue.

On the high-definition disc charts, 300 was the top seller on the Blu-ray Disc and the HD DVD charts. The Blu-ray Disc version outsold the HD DVD edition by a margin of nearly 2-to-1.

Is it still dominating the DVD charts? I heard it's the best selling HD-DVD and Blue Ray title ever.

hd dvd/ blue ray are just now becoming comon in the average household that might be why it's the best selling tittle ever.plus the movie was good with a lot of hot visual.

There's No Stopping the 300

300 crushed the competition during its second week in video stores, retaining the top spot on the national sales chart despite a strong challenge from Disturbia, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The newcomer, with a box office gross of more than $80 million, debuted at No. 2 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week ending August 12, though its total unit sales were only about 53% of those of 300.

Disturbia did manage a No. 1 bow on Home Media Magazine's video rental chart, generating $9.7 million. That was enough to push 300 to No. 2 with $9.5 million.

TMNT debuted at No. 3 on the sales chart but could muster only a 12th-place bow on the rental chart.

The Ice Cube comedy sequel Are We Done Yet? debuted at No. 4 on the sales chart and at No. 3 on the rental chart, with earnings pegged at $6.8 million. Fox's Season 10 set of "The Simpsons" bowed at No. 5 on the sales chart.

In the high-definition disc arena, 300 was the No. 1 seller on both the Blu-ray Disc and the HD DVD charts.
